Will i get a strike?

I won the bid on ebay and paid for the item after a day of winning but received an email from the seller informing me that she put a wrong email ad on paypal. She then gave me the new email ad. And then again she said she got confused and gave me another email ad so thats about 3 or 4 email ad. I now lost interest yet my paypal payment remains pending. She has now opened a case againts me and requested me to cancel the transaction. Will i get a strike if i cancel? As i said i lost interest on the item. How will i get the payment i sent to paypal? I hope someone can give a clear picture about this. Many thanks in advance.
i wish i have live my life a little bit off the book, took a chance and gamble

  • You have paid for the item once?

If you have paid for the item once then do not cancel the transaction before you get a refund. If you click on cancel then you will have no chance of getting your money back.

You need to message her and tell her that you need a refund before you cancel and wait for the payment to clear back into your account.

I paid for it and still showing pending on paypal. Should i ask her for a refund even though payment is pending?

Yes. Ask her if her Paypal says that the payment is pending too, then you can message her and tell her that you do not feel comfortable going ahead with the transaction now and you would like your money refunding.
  • Keep in mind though, no matter what she says or how genuine she sounds, do not click on any cancellation until you can see the money in your account.

Thanks. I'll bear that in mind. Will i get a strike for it?

    No because you have paid.

If the payment went to the wong paypal email address - the seller cant refund - as they dont have it. But in such cases - the money will show as unclaimed in your paypal account - cancel the payment.

If it does not show as unclaimed - the seller has it.

Dont cancel anything until you have your monay back.

Even then - as you have paid - you cannot be given a strike - so you could refuse the cancellation - so the seller does not get their fees back - but thats up to you. Either way - you cannot get a strike if you paid via ebay.

If you can't get your paypal money back - file a claim.
  • If the original payment says unclaimed then the buyer can cancel the payment themselves.

Go into Paypal and there should be an option to cancel the original payment.
  • Thank you guys!

I have now cancelled my payment.

Although you have paid, technically they can open a dispute for NPB. And it may even close with you being given a strike, if this happens then you need to appeal with the original paypal transaction ID. Better still, if they have a NPB case open, see if you can respond to it with the transaction ID.
