o2 Cancellation.

Hi,

Basically, after being a customer of o2 for 3 years i took out a simplicity 12 months deal which ended 2011 but i kept the contract going, no upgrading nothing till recently. my minutes came in on the 3rd, on the 5th i upgraded and then on the 7th i decided to cancel it and leave o2 all together. so after days of chasing them around to cancel, i was told i needed to downgrade then i could cancel. so i did within my 7 day cooling period. they then told me once my no. transfered to another network my contract will discontinue. so on the 10th it discontinued. At the time i was told i will be billed for what i use so i stopped using the phone after two days. i kept asking how much will it cost they refused to say and said i will find out in about 14 days but it shouldnt be more than my normal bill (£25). Today i got an email saying i owe a final payement £281!!!

Can someone please advise me?

thankyou

It has to be a bill with a breakdown, not just a e-mail.
O2 do offer 7 working days cooling off period for upgrades, so they have to charge you pro-rata for the new tariff, then for 30 days (notice period) on you original tariff. At least part of this amount was likely to be paid in advance.

    Contact them and demand explanation.
  • i paid off my september bill just a few days ago, that was seperate, so even for the one month cancellation thats £25, two days usage of the upgrade surely cant amount a ridiculous £281. ITS A VERY DISTRESSING JOKE! until i dont get explanation im not paying and ive cancelled the DD

Cancelling the DD is the worst thing you can do. Do you really want your credit file(s) ruined? They will do this routinely and you will have to chase them later to have the records corrected.
  • Just give them a call and see what happened, remember to be calm and polite, it isn't the person you're speaking too's fault :)

Happened to me recently and it turned out that they had accidentally charged me for the whole contract as if it was a termination not the change of mind period cancellation.

You should get it sorted don't worry :)
