Well this looks like Tesco have totally screwed me over.

My direct debits were set up for over a week before they got removed. I set up the direct debits again - removed. Set them up a final time, 1 of them shows as i mentioned in my last post & today that has been removed.

Somewhere in amongst all this i called Tesco & got the direct debit woman "Syad" who was trying to get in touch. She wanted to verify the reason for the accounts & that i was who i said i was. Did this, so i figured all was clear.

    Seemingly not.

I called today to find out why 1) my account is STILL under review and 2) why whenever i set up a direct debit, they (Tesco) shut them down.

I get told basically they can't tell me nothing as my account is under review.
Will they get in touch with me? Yes.
    When? don't know
    How? Don't know.
Why can't i set up direct debits? Because your account is under review.
Can i close my accounts then as i'm getting sick of this? No, as your accounts are under review.
So i can't do anything basically? No. Accounts under review.
Why are they STILL under review 1 month into being set up? Don't know, they'll be in touch about them.

When? Today? Tomorrow? At this rate will it even be in my bloody lifetime????

So looks like this has cost me the 4% deal, unless some of the other direct debits i moved will show in time.

So as well as the letter asking to close 4 of the 6 being sent off the other day, i'll now try the "Santander Route" i.e. a complaint as this is beyond a joke.

How many Tesco accounts did you open and how many DDs on each?

Maybe they are thinking you are trying to launder money?

I can guess that a Tesco account linked to 3 current accounts for £1 each a month may be a little suspicious. If you have 6 DDs setup in total, then more so.

Mine are still there, but I only have 1 Internet saver with 1 DD and 1 Instant Access with 1 DD, so maybe thats why.

From another of K-P83's posts...6!!!! Though he does say he mis-interpreted the process, and now realises only 2 accounts were required...each with a DD linked to each of his Vantage accounts.

Fundamentally, two things have cost you "the deal":

    1. You came to the party late (4% rate announced/launched way back in early September), and/but

    2. You didn't grasp the Tesco process required, despite the detail contained in the various threads on this board and the savings board.

Hopefully you'll get things sorted by next Wednesday. If not, there's always the next deal.

I'm not sure a complaint will get you anywhere. After all, why should Tesco help you make 4% elsewhere by (ab)using their 2.6% (or whatever) savings accounts. Can't imagine the FOS, if it gets that far, awarding against Tesco under the circumstances?

I'll agree i was late in that i didn't jump on it the very hour it was released. I signed up towards the end of Sept, but surely a tad over 1 month is enough to get this up & running?!

I can't do anything but agree that i didn't grasp the Tesco process. Total misunderstanding on that one there.
However there's a bit of a problem here on MSE with things like that. I'm not blaming MSE members, as i should ignore the !!!!!ing & moaning until i'm satisfied i understand, but sometimes it's just too much hassle.
    To explain...

You can have a thread that has 50 pages & 800 posts or whatever & somewhere in the middle of all that, your question may have been asked, but you don't know as it's in the middle of 50 pages & for all you know it could be on any one of those pages or not at all.

You make a thread asking your question, but instead of people answering it OR even better .... not liking your question & choosing to ignore it, they choose to reply, but not with anything helpful ....... to say "that's already been asked, go find it".

& you can't find it to save your life, only people taking guesses. That doesn't mean the Q&A isn't there, just that you can't find it.

Happens a lot on here - people moaning something has already been asked, so people try not to make a new thread & ask.
But really, ATEOTD, big deal if something has already been asked. If you (not you YorkshireBoy, but anyone) don't like it then don't reply to it & moan. Questions get duplicated etc all the time & we still carry on breathing, nobody dies.

This will just teach me to not care whether people will !!!!! & moan.

EDIT: Since when was the term for a female dog swearing?

At least someone is telling you then that the time involved in searching will be worth it, as the question has already been answered - ie, you won't be searching for nothing.

I needed to know something, and to be honest, it took me under 10 minutes to search all 60+ pages or so. I wouldn't call that excessive. In fact, I'd say it would have taken me longer than that to post a question and wait for the reply to come in. Some people don't seem to realise this - they'll spend more time posting and arguing about why other people have not answered there question than it would have taken to find the answer by searching. Even slow computers can render the pages in seconds, and I doubt many people here will be visiting the boards using acoustic couplers.

The forum search is not very helpful when you are trying to find something on MSE. However, advanced Google search is brilliant and finds literally anything in seconds.

I agree, the only problem with AGS is that it searches the entire site and so you can't say "Search just this forum", but it's still better at times. I use the "site:x" feature regularly to find stuff on other sites.

you can narrow it down to the Forum only by using http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/

Agree, it might show you a number of forums which contain your search words but I have never found this to be a problem - quite the contrary.
