    Evening all!

It's been a quiet weekend here, very windy and cold so we've mostly sat in. We did try to go for a meal / cinema trip last night but couldn't get a table - ended up with a lovely takeaway at home instead which saved us about £30 lol, their loss!

Today has been a small spend day only, rather proud of myself for going to the shop and only buying the bread and milk I went for lol.

So, I have exciting news - I've thought of a new savings concept - my 'freedom fund'... I don't know if any of you remember me posting saying I wasn't sure if I would be able to / want to go back to my job after maternity leave, but if I didn't then I would have to pay back the difference between my occupational maternity pay / SMP. I've sat and crunched the numbers, and I would need to set aside £6510 in a 'freedom fund' so that I can make the decision nearer the time without being tied into going back. Will be a tall order as this is my last month on full pay - but I'm going to give it a go and will run the challenge along with our finding a house and MFW challenge :D

    Wish me luck!

Lol! No such luck I'm afraid, he's very much standing his ground at the moment... We're 38+5, so his final date for eviction is 20th Feb (at 42 weeks) if he doesn't make a spontaneous appearance!

    Morning all!

Well, it's been a good day here so far.

    **Long post alert**

Needed to stock up on fresh food, so mini-Kube (still very much in bump form lol) and I went for a bit of a mooch around.

At the local butchers for £10.50 we got:
    12 FR eggs
    450g diced chicken
    450g lean mince steak
    450g bacon
    450g 'slimming world' sausages
    450g 'slimming world' beef burgers

It all looks lovely, have packaged it up into individual meals and popped into the freezer. I'm assured by my SIL that the meat is vastly superior compared to MrT stuff so fingers crossed :)

Then we went to the farm shop and got
    2L skimmed milk 89p
    5kg of maris pipers £2.75
    750g carrots 64p

    Then from MrT we got
    3x value yoghurts 99p
    Value bananas £1.02
    Value onions 69p
2x 400g blocks of mature cheddar reduced to 85p and 91p
    Cooked ham £1

    And a few naughties
Big wedge of wensleydale & cranberry reduced to £1.60
    Cream crackers 29p
    Value choc eclairs 27p

Also had some bounty pack and supersavvyme vouchers to use:

Got 3x big boxes of persil powder which were on offer from £7.15 each (as if anyone would pay that!) 3 for £10 with another £1 voucher off, so £3 a box :j
2.9L of Fairy softener down to £4 from £6.65 and another £1 off so £3
And a pack of huggies newborn size 3 which was down to £3.98 from £5.98 and I had another £2 off voucher so £1.98. We are planning to use our cloth nappies with mini-Kube but always worth having a few disposibles around, would rather get them now while they're cheap / free (sooooo many baby freebies about, we have about 10 packs of newborn nappies in already that we have accumulated from free sources!)

Mini-Kube is gonna be the cleanest baby in Northern Ireland lol!

Does anybody use supersavvyme? They have some great vouchers for washing powder etc at the moment and MrT have loads of offers on, so you can use them together to stock up! We now literally have enough non-bio washing powder and softener to last the year :j

On another note, managed to get OH some lovely lambwool sweaters reduced to £10 each, 2 pairs of smart cords down to £7 each and a pair of jeans for £4. He desperately needed some new trousers and the jumpers will do him nicely for work, so I was pleased with that lot and they all seem lovely quality.

Hope everyone is having a lovely day.

In MFW news, yesterday we went to the bank and locked the £10k we have so far towards the house deposit away so we can't be tempted to dip in... baby steps lol :rotfl:

Evening all! No sign of mini-Kube yet, I live in hope!

    Just a few quick updates:

    MFW Wins:

    - Bid on ebay for the carryseat raincover I need for mini-Kube and got one delivered for a fiver instead of forking out £9.99 to mothercare

    - Local shop had loads of reductions today; got 30(!!) big chicken breasts for £10, 3 cartons of covent garden tomato and basil soup for 30p each and some layered activia yoghurts for 50p.. yum! Used some of the chicken to do a roast for family today and the rest has been individually wrapped and tucked away in the freezer. OH caught me portioning all that chicken up and thought I'd gone a bit mental lol.

    - Another huge donation of disposible nappies from a friend who recently had a baby - the poor changing table is groaning lol - although we're planning to use our cloth stash I'm sure these will come in handy until we get established!

    - Had a lovely afternoon at the seaside yesterday with OH, we were planning a meal out but ended up with fish and chips sat by the beach in big coats lol. Only cost £7 and was lovely to have the time together

    MFW Fails:

    - OH needs to go to the dentist tomorrow so unsure how much that'll come to

    - Doesn't seem to be very many ads on adpoints at the moment!

    - OH driving a lot to work at the moment instead of taking the bus as he's waiting for a 'come home quick' call lol :rotfl:

    To-Do:

    - Return 3 pairs of trousers bought for OH but too small to MrT tomorrow (they were in the sale so hopefully they will take them back..!?)

    - Bid on a footmuff for mini-Kubes pushchair... I note the one to fit his quinny comes in at £40-50 new! I've spied one for 99p on ebay so going to have a go at bidding for that later on, after it's had a good wash he'll never know the difference.

    - Huge pile of ironing

    - Use up 2 sorry looking lemons and 4 small apples which have gone a bit wooly... any ideas?

    Happy Sunday everyone!

MrT took the trousers back this morning so that's £18 back in the bank. Covers the cost of mini-Kubes footmuff I suppose lol!

Needed some fruit, bread etc but I managed that out of the change in my purse rather than lifting out any more money, so I was pleased with that. A bar of value chocolate may have snuck it's way into the basket too... 30p lol.

The dentist didn't charge OH this morning (although I suspect a bill might arrive in the post!). He arrived home with half his face still numb so I sent the poor thing off to work after a bacon sandwich made with some lovely thick bacon from the butchers and he cheered right up, yum yum.

Ironing is done, flat is spotless and I just did the floors out too... what to do now for the rest of the day!?
