Filled up a few days ago at 133.7p a litre for unleaded.I hate migraines.0

Don't forget that there is a difference in petrol quality too
I find that I get perhaps 2 or3 mpg more from Texaco fuel than I do from Asda or Tesco !!
Before anyone queries this - try it yourselves and see
I am aware that, in theory, they "could be" one and the same - but it depends on storage (water component) etc.....
The difference is in your mind.
I recently completed 3000 miles across Europe, filling up with diesel whenever I could, from a variety of sources.
The car averaged around 56MPG however it was driven and did not miss a beat.
I have always used petrol in our other car, and it has done 130K with no problems, and the supermarket fuel which I buy from Sainsbury/Asda returns no different figures from the expensive stuff I have bought in an emergency.0 -
With all these fuel price wars concerning the odd 1p off a litre of fuel, i would have thought it more attractive if just one supermarket cut its profit margin to the very bare minimum and attracted thousands of motorists, rather than any other supermarkets dropping a mere 3-4p per litre off their prices.
After the Government have taken the tax and Vat, i have no idea what the petrol stations actually make, but i would rather have a thousand motorists filling up from far and wide, than say 100 motorists coming for 3p off per litre?:T0 -
Morrisons may have have reduced the price of petrol but have you noticed that the differential between the price of petrol and diesel at their garages has increased to 7p from 5p? Yes, they get the headlines for the petrol price reduction but they are clawing back the reduction in other ways.0

It's winter. Diesel always gets comparatively more expensive in winter.0 -
not heard the news recently, but are we expecting price reductions before the governments 3p hike on duty? cos thats what usually happens imho0

The last headline I remember reading about the last reduction was petrol going down 2p per litre and diesel staying the same.
That means that, yes, the difference between the two would increase by 2p per litre.
They are not clawing it back, if diesel wholesale costs had went down then diesel price would have too.0 -
Not true, at some point in the "last few years" it briefly reached parity again and I saw it cheaper than petrol on one (but only one) occasion.Sure, but in the last few years it stays more expensive all the time.2kWp Solar PV - 10*200W Kioto, SMA Sunny Boy 2000HF, SSE facing, some shading in winter, 37° pitch, installed Jun-2011, inverter replaced Sep-2017 AND Feb-2022.0
