I plan to hire a 7 seater van in the USA this Christmas. I see that through travel supermarket the following companies have the best deals

I have never used them, but they are the cheapest. Auro Europe use ALAMO which is good.
Anyone had any experience with these companies??

I've used Auto Europe several times and Car Hire 3000 once (they are a newer company). Both were fine.

Make sure you know what's included - you may find there's an airport charge or something to be paid locally. Your confirmation will show this.

I'd also like to throw in the option of YesCarHire.com. Despite the dodgy name, I've used them in Florida and saved hundreds. They use Alamo, so you still end up renting from a 'proper' firm.

    I'd recommend Airline Network icon14.gif
Same old same old since 2008

I have used airline network before and holidayextras, it's just that those 2 other companies offer about a £50 saving above everyone else. I did not recognise the name and I was afraid they may be dodgy. I think Trailfinders will price match, so I may just be able to buy the lot from the same company.

I was in Florida last December and got a hire car from the local Budget office in Titusville. I had the vehicle for 10 days and returned it to Miami Airport on completion - I can't remember what I paid, but it was cheaper than if I had booked from this end.
The "big boys" aren't always the most expensive.

I know it is a side issue but what I’ve never fully understood is car insurance in the US - all the various options, some of which I’m sure are duplication.

If things go wrong out there you are given the impression you end up with costs that would solve a country’s debt problem so I tend to tick all the boxes. Probably I worry “what if” too much.
