Strange message from Ebay

I bought and paid for an iPhone on 17th (last Wed) thought it may have come by now.
Yesterday i had a message from Ebay...
Dear ********
We're writing to let you know that the listing for the following item you bid on has been removed:
1*********49 - Apple iPhone 4S - 32 GB - White (Unlocked) Smartphone.
If you haven't yet paid for this item, we strongly recommend that you do not complete this purchase. If the seller asks you to continue with the sale after the item has been ended by eBay, the item won't be covered by eBay buyer protection. Purchases completed outside of eBay are extremely risky and highly susceptible to fraud.***If you've already paid using PayPal***
If you've already paid for the item through eBay and you want to get your money back:
-- You can open a case in our Resolution Centre. You have to wait 7 days from the day you made your payment before you can open a case.
-- To access the Resolution Centre, go to:
How can an item be removed after its finished?
In sold bought box this has appeared...This listing was removed by eBay. If you've already paid for the item, we recommend that you wait 10 days from the expected delivery date to see if the item arrives. If you did not pay, you are no longer obliged to pay for this item. If you have a problem with the purchase, you can resolve the problem by opening a case in our Resolution Centre.

There could be a few possible reasons. I've had this happen in the past after having paid for an item and the item arrived without a problem. Obviously that's not necessarily what will happen here, so follow the Ebay advice. If you haven't paid, don't, if you have, wait for arrival, then open dispute if it doesn't arrive.
If you have paid Ebay will refund quite swiftly if there's a problem..0 -

Ebay pull auctions and chuck people off for no-reason, so i can sometimes be fine - and the sellers still posts.
But if its already over-due - then its likely ebay have pulled ALL the sellers listings - inlcuding recently ended. This could be because they marked it for removal before it ended - but have only just got round to it.
Just put a claim in - and you will get your money back.0 -
I had one of these and the item did arrive in the condition I expected. I think it might of been because the seller had been using other people's pictures.
For an iPhone though I wouldn't want to risk it, so as RFW says don't pay if you haven't already, and if you have rest assured you can claim if it doesn't turn up or isn't as expected.0 -
Ebay can do this for various reasons. Quite often under false circumstances too. They can just take a dislike to an auction. I would email the buyer if you have paid, give him a chance if it has been posted. I cant see posts properly as my phone is playing up so excuse me if my reply doesn't reflect your question as I may have missed parts.0

How did you pay for your purchase?
Hopefully not as a gift payment through Paypal.0 -
If no reply - file a claim.
What feedback has the seller got. If its a new member - paypal won't have handed over the money anyway.0 -
