Lw - Just had a thought.....i've been worrying about your predicament how about attaching a wooden spoon to your razor ?

Ooh that sounds like a good idea :T

    Morning ladies.
Internet problems and a general meh day yesterday. Feeling decorating fatigue big time :o
However had a reasonably early night and didn't get up at the crack of dawn like usual so feel a bit better.

Not much OS really, am barely even cleaning bar the essentials :o
Tea tonight will be some roast pork I cooked yesterday with roasties, veggies and my new current fave roast parsnips :j

Hugs and spoons all round xx

RR feel better soon xxx make sure you put wet towels in the bedroom at night, dry air aggravates coughing.

Beemuzzed hugs and positive vibes for your H xxx

    Morning all,

another damp dismal day here but apart from a boat load of bedding i need to wash and dry its not going to affect me too too much as i dont need to go out. Mind you, i do have several lights on as its so dark.

Redruby the dogs got me up twice in the night so i share your pain.... thankfully i dont have a cough though. Lemon juice is good for 'unbunging' your ears, nose and chest. I swear by it! I swear by soya milk too instead of dairy to keep oneself 'clear'. Soya milk does take a bit to get used to though i must admit.

Had a heart to heart with my youngest son last night. Theres lots of family stuff going round in his head at the moment and i'm not sure i can help him with any of it.

Another email from my friend pleading with me to go to this school reunion and ive caved in and said i'll go. Not sure i'll recognise many though.

    Have a good day all.

Morning all - we had a powercut this morning but it's just come on again. They're always digging up the bottom of our road to sort out the gas and seem to have hit something. A couple of months ago we had a powercut because something exploded in a house opposite in the middle of the night, so the camping stove hadn't yet made its way back up into the loft. Wow, the house was quiet with no electricity ticking over. Had a horrible feeling we might have to huddle together for warmth and DH has the lurgy, but avoided it by making coffee on the camping stove. Even though the heating's not on, psychologically it feels warmer - at least we can have a hot shower now. I was working out how to make meals from tins of soup and beans on the stove, and DH automatically thought take-away - nuh-uh. Reminds me of the early 70s when we'd sit around as a family playing cards by candlelight.

Realised last night that 1/3 of October's budget went on rubbish food because I didn't plan properly (and I was the main culprit with buying the treats on my way to and from work). We did come in roughly on budget, so meal-planning is something I have to nail this month. Today I need to sort through the freezers and cupboards and make a new list. Farmfoods is looking like the best bet for meat and fish if I can store 2 months' worth to take advantage of their best offers (I can just take out however many portions from pre-frozen bags of chops etc in the morning), and I got lots of 10% vouchers off when I signed up to their email. So tomorrow I'll be making several trips with the trusted wally trolley.

Off work till Friday afternoon - at some point I have to head into town for another thyroid test but that can wait till Friday morning, I think.

Have a good day everyone :)

Foggy still, but there is a silver lining ....no low flying planes from Luton airport at 2am in the morning, so I have slept better.
Just had to have one of the tyres on the car replaced and the tracking done this morning that was £67
So it will be a minimal shop this week, but saying that I must get some more of the super six at Aldi this week before it changes. DH is addicted to parsnip soup :rotfl:
Washing is about to finish and DH is taking me to the launderette to use the tumble dryer so I must get on

    Morning All.
Cat-smith, hope all goes well with your DH too!
Thanks so much for all the good wishes.
Mine had a reasonable night but is obviously frustrated that his mobility is a bit curtailed - can't turn and reach drinks on side table etc! What does he expect with a lovely new scar from above his navel all the way down! Pain levels not too bad and he's not using the level of drugs available. Just beginning to realise that it is cancer tho' - emotionally that's quite a hard one I guess for both of us.
Am only doing short walks with the dogs today, but more of them - don't like to leave DH on his own for too long a time for a day or so.
Got up and mopped the hard floors before breakfast and have cleaned the kitchen. Wonderful what the thought of drop in visitors will make me do!
Hope you all have a good day today. Take care.

  • Good morning (just about morning still) everyone :)

Work gets busier every day and am staggering towards a few days off for half term next week.

Nothing very OS yesterday or today so far and I did find a recipe for ginger wine but think I have left it too late to make it this year. Here is the recipe if anyone wants it, there is always next year:

    Ginger wine
    About 5 inches / 12cm root ginger
    5 litres of water
    1.4kg sugar
Zest and juice of 4 lemons
500g raisins, chopped or squashed by putting in a carrier bag and pounding, or a 200ml can of white grape juice concentrate
1 sachet of white wine yeast
    Yeast nutrient
Peel and finely slice the ginger, place in a plastic fermenting bucket, add the lemon zest and the raisins, then pour over 2½ litres of boiling water. Cover and leave for 24 hours.
Add 2.5 litres of boiled and cooled water, the sugar, lemon juice and yeast nutrient and stir until the sugar is dissolved, then the yeast (follow the instructions on the packet). Cover and leave to ferment for three or four days then transfer into a demijohn using a sterilised sieve and funnel. Fit a bubble trap and allow to ferment for a couple of months. Rack-off into a fresh demijohn and leave until clear, then bottle.

Plan to empty freezer for defrosting pre-Christmas is underway, finished off bits of icecream last night and having fish and chips tonight.

Well wishes to all sick people and pets, hugs to those who need or want them. Have a super day
    :)

    Hi all

'Nother damp, murky one today, so now I have newly-washed bath towels and hankies lurking all over the bungalow.

I've managed (with much embarrassment):embarasse to apprise Mr LW of my latest difficulty, and bless him, he's offered to help.:A What worries me though, is the more “lady” tasks (as I think floss2 put it) he has to assist me with, the more he'll view me as a patient, and less as a lover.:( But I guess cripples aren't supposed to have s3x lives anyway, or so the rheumy nurse would have had me believe. Anyways – I still couldn't reach across enough this morning, so that may be a task for later on today. And he's already helped me wash my hair this morning.:A

On to happier things.... nlj1520 we have Shepherd Spy on the meal plan for Sunday; I'll make enough for two days, as Mr LW is on late shift Monday, so we can just nuke and eat the 2nd half. I'm doing a similar thing with lasagne today, as he's on early shift and wfh today, and on late shift tomorrow.:o

Bargainbird ah, now that's a Plan B – an ordinary razor (I think I still have some – usually use the electric razor bit of the epilator on the underarms).... yeah, :idea:Pratchett-style: Razor-Onna-Stick.:D

AlwaysAllie many thanks for that link – I've bookmarked it.:o There's a mobility shop in Newport Pagnell, they may stock that sort of thing. I usually only go to NP if I have stuff for the RSPCA shop, but I can always use an excuse to go, as I can also pop into Wyrdo's as well.;)

Judi it sounds like your friend really, really wants someone to go and sort of hold her hand at the reunion, so well done for agreeing.:A Best of luck.:o

(((HUGS))) for all who need/want them today; GWS vibes where needed, too.:o
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
