Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 23rd October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
I've been up since 5 with a painful shoulder, I must have slept on it.
Pack ups made, fish fed & hubby had a cuppa in bed.
I'm babysitting tonight & tomorrow, just for an hour each time whilst DD & SIL go to parents evenings.
I'm compiling a report of all the things that are causing me problems at work, ie, broken, damaged, missing equipment, software problems etc, a cupboard is being fitted in my room over this weekend & I'm know it's going to stop the light working in my room, so I'm waiting to add that to my list of problems & then dump the whole lot on my boss's lap!
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good Morning HH and BB and all who follow us early birds I too got up at silly o'clock.I didn't look at the clock properly, and as I was wide awake thought of all the things I wanted to get done and if not leapt, but got up far too early.(5.45)Still managed to get a few bits done before I realised how early it was so I can at least put my feet up and read the back of my eyelids later on for half an hour :):) to recharge myself.DGD Danny is a t.v. researcher and met Michael Palin yesterday, and texted me last night to say what a lovely chap he is,very interesting and informative and had lots of patience with my 22 year old grandson who had to ask him lots of questions (probably heard them all before) but was in Danny's words 'A real legend Gran' He gave him an autographed book for my DD as she is a fan as well which was nice of him.Danny meets lots of different folk in his work and some of them aren't always the nicest pf people but Danny always tells me when he's met a polite one who takes his time with a lowly researcher.I shall watch his new programme tonight when its on.
NSD today but my 'need to buy ' list by the kettle is growing I shall go, hopefully perhaps on Friday. The more I can adapt and use something else instead of going shopping the less I spend (well thats my theory and it seems to work for me )
Right its time for breakfast and a cuppa Have a good day everyone what ever you are doing
    Take care and keep warm

LW when I had that defuzzing problem I was having the district nurses coming in daily to dress my badages after my mastectomy and found that I just couldn't get my right side defuzzed (Never regrew on the left after chemo)and the lovely district nurse lass did it for me .She asked everyday if there was anything I really needed or wanted, one day and I said Yes please. She was lovely and said its not a problem bless her I had a team of four different lasses coming in daily for over 4 months as my wound had collaped and needed redressing daily. They were stars the whole lot of them and went out of their way to help me with anything at all. They were absolute angels.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Damp dreich and overcast here this morning. DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was LO roast dinner, with a few added veggies, and roast potatoes, clean plates all round. I remembered to get the pork chops out of the freezer, so they'll be eaten for dinner with mash and veg.

Work was quite quiet, so will see what today brings, but only have to work until lunchtime, then I'm on days' off until Mondy, but have loads to do between now and going away Friday morning - so will have to get stuck in. Last day of taking DS2 to school tomorrow and Friday he's going to cycle, then next week they are on half term.

Have a great day everyone x

    Morning Everyone,

Had a good day yesterday. Met DD in town, she pushed me round in my chair, and we got everything we needed:T
Went for lunch at Yates's. Never been there, but it was recommended. Had scampi, chips and peas. Loads of it. £2.99:eek: Amazed, and very nice too!:T Will go there again.

Today I want to try and plant daffs. They are the only bulbs left now. Then if I have the energy, I need to wrap some Xmas pressies so I can see what I have got!:rotfl:

Slept in two hour stints again, but that's usual for me!

Porridge for brekkie, not sure what to have for dinner.

    Love to everyone.

Hello everyone, back after a week's holiday preceded by visiting my Dad and sister in the west country. Feeling rested and had some headspace to think some stuff through.
Come back full of cold and a migraine dammit! HAVE to work today so a bit spaced out on pain killers at the moment.
Sheperd's Pie for dinner tonight, I've had a craving for it for the last few days (comfort food?) and if I make double I could freeze one or have it tomorrow. Waist line expanded while away (French cheese and sticky cakes!) so need to get that back down again. Always find that harder in winter as comfort food calls.
DS has been a bit unsettled for the last couple fo weeks, so I need to talk to his carers to see what we can improve for him. When I say a bit unsettled, this is in the context of extreme challenging behaviour, so it's important we work out what's going wrong for him.
Have a good day all, and hang on in there to those facing difficulties.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
