Have you checked with mortgage company for any insurance with the mortgage?

If you are getting benefits after 13 weeks you should be able to qualify for the interest to be paid on the mortgage.
phone citizens advice direct, you can google the number as its different if your in England Scotland etc and ask them to advise you what to do

    Thank you geennaa

If mortgage company are allowing them to make the mortgage payments then there could be a solution. Is there any harm in asking ?

The administrator to an estate cannot claim SMI. Also, you cannot claim SMI for a property you do not live in. I doubt the 18 yo's will be able to claim either, as (once the estate is settled) others will have a significant interest in the property.

Above all don't panic. Approach each problem as it arises. Think about what is the best end position that could be for you all.

Don't worry about paying the mortgage - the bank need informing of the death. They normally are very practical and will give you loads of time to sort things out.

Being the Administrator you are standing in your late mum's shoes. You control everything. Who gets paid what, when and how much - anybody that is owed money will have to prove it.
As I have said you have the legal right to rent out the house to your siblings - go check with the council first if they will allow HB - go see the CAB if they say no.

If anybody asks for money they will have to wait until you are ready.
However, it is normal that you do pay for the funeral asap.

Thank you, you have been very helpful.

Firstly, I know that I have the power to sell, rent out etc... but you have to bare in mind that my brothers are only 18 (just) they are practically still children so if I were to do any of the above I would be making them homeless and its the last thing I want to do.

Ive spoken to the bank and informed everyone that needs to know. Ive also paid everything that needs to be paid. The only thing outstanding is the mortgage.

As I said in my post, Im only working part time, my sister doesnt work and my brothers are in full time education. The hours I work arent enough for me to obtain a mortgage (Ihave just upped my hours) but I also have bad credit. I feel like Im in sinking sand I really do, I just dont know how to solve this.

Will the bank transfer the debt jointly if I am the only one working?

How much is the house worth and what is the outstanding mortgage? Is there sufficient equity to fund rental accomm for your brothers until they are self sufficient?

I'm sorry you have all this to deal with at such a sad time.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

Support for Mortgage Interest - the DWP pay towards the mortgage interest for owner occupiers on certain qualifying benefits.

Its worth around £190k and there is about £30k left to pay. Do you mean can I pay the mortgage myself until my brothers are self sufficient?
