If you drive a diesel of any age, consider adding Millers Powerplus 4 additive to each fill. This is especially useful if you use supermarket fuel or biodiesel as it increases the octane content of the fuel, making it run smoother and is similar to running your car on premium diesel. Even with shell fuel, I find that I get about 2 - 4 MPG more using this additive than I would normally get on the same run.

Millers costs about £9 from local car accessory shops, and you can find bulk deals of it in 2 or 3 packs on Ebay. Each bottle treats about 500 litres of diesel, and so it does go a long way.

Shell Diesel Extra everytime! Engine is quieter, MPG is slightly better, and it performs better. Plus it costs the same as Tesco's etc in my area :D

I use Millers powersport 4 and get an extra 4mpg on top of the extra 4mpg I get using Shell over Tescos. Millers is about 11 quid and lasts about 8 tank fulls. So about 1.40 a tank for the millers but I get about 50 more miles per tank. I also find my car to be a lot,lot more responsive and quieter with the millers. definitly worth a try and cost efective in the long run

If it increases anything it will be the Cetane rating. As with any additive if it was going to increase mpg by the amounts quoted I am reasonably sure it would be added by manufacturer - and yes it is in their best interests.

I have an inherent distrust of snakeoil type wonder products. Having worked on the development of high speed automotive engines there is little to be gained other than by electronic or engineering development. Another area where gains can be made is tribology or lubrication.
