Yes, but this is not a "social occassion".
For all poster "Innovate" might know these might be carefully constructed questions specifically designed not for small talk but to be entered up in some customer database.
You do realize that in businesses to business environment where there are fewer customers/suppliers such things like your wife's and children's names (and more) that you might let on in conversation are all entered up into a sales customer database so that in future conversations with you your contact knows how to appear to be friendly and interested in you.....
They are not of course and your contact frankly doesn't give a toss about you or your family - but it's all about CRM (customer relationship management) and how to appear "friendly" as this gets you more business (apparantely).
Sadly people like me recognise when its being done to them so it has no effect.
I think it works better in industries where person to person contact is essential rather than those where the end product is all that matters and whether your contact has webbed feet and bad breadth is not relevant but whether he does the job well and on time is.0 -
I certainly ain't one to get into a full conservation to the robots in the bank and yes they're trying to be friendly as its whats they're programmed to do but its still way to false for me especially as the robots deep down don't give a flying sh*t how your day has gone or if you going for a nice meal.
All I'm saying is yes it's nice to be polite but me hating banks as much as I do the last thing I want to do is getting into a full conversation with a 18 year with a flick.0 -
