Chadwell Heath v Barking

Options
Hi

I really need some advice. I am really confused about what to do i have offered on a flat in chadwell heath...offer accepted..survey done etc. However, i have started to notice in the east london area (apart from Stratford) the housing market is starting to slow down properties are not shifting tht quickly.

Now when i started flat hunting some time ago I saw some really nice flats in barking (which has a number of main tube lines) on abbey road. I am going to view some more that have come back on the market

The problem that I have is that I wanted to know if anyone knew the barking area that well...or chadwell heath...I am trying to weigh up if it s worth been close to a tube station than an overground.

Any comments would be really appreciated as I am really confused at the moment

Yasmin :)

Towards the top right corner of your MSE browser window you should see a box saying "Welcome, Yasmin02". Beneath this is a link to your PMs (Private Messages) :)

Yasmin - i'm sure we discussed this before :)

I lived in Chadwell Heath for 4 years with no problems. I wouldn't live in Barking for love nor money.

not got time to elaborate now, and sorry if the brashness upsets anyone.

Avoid Barking. Chadwell Heath in general better option.
  • Hi I was born in Barking and am currently living in Chadwell Heath. My parents still live in Barking but are looking to move. Mum likes her house and being central to the shops, station etc but the area has gone down the pan very much so.
  • Definitely avoid Barking. You have good connections into Liverpool St from Chadwell Heath.

I'd avoid barking... the area has gone downhill over time and although there is a mix of cultures there is a lot more crime there. Also what someone said about the BNP element is also right... generally speaking around ilford side, the more north you go the better the area... e.g. North Ilford, Gants hill, Barkingside (where I live), Newbury park, Seven kings and Chadwell Heath... all much nicer areas.

Only downside with Chadwell Heath I can see is its Zone 5 whereas Barking is Zone 4 but minor difference.

Also on a side note... all central line tube stations on the Hainult loop are now in zone 4. They used to be zone 5. If you still have time check around those areas.. they are real nice.
    ummm...
