For example, I was to inspect the toilet. I asked the staff at the shop if there was a toilet available. Their reply was "you don't want to use the toilet, it is rather dirty, you are better off else where".

Now as I didn't get the chance to inspect the toilet, surely I have to be honest in the report.

You will have to be honest and say what happened and why you didn't check the toilet.

It's times like this when you need to think on your feet and say you're desperate and do need to use the toilet, or say you have IBS and have to go now or something like that!
Somehow, I kind of feel awful about it cos I know that retailer is going be in trouble with headquarter.

Yes they might be "in trouble" but HO do need to know. How many other customers have stopped using that outlet because of the problems you have spotted?

By bringing it to the attention of HO through mystery shopping, they will be aware of the problems, and be able to sort them out which will hopefully bring in more business.

I've only ever had queries from RE and in particular only ever one client! Does anyone have this problem with the chemist jobs?

Its made me paranoid about accepting any more jobs for this client or else making me feel uneasy about recording anything as less than perfect as I know on past record there is a 50/50 chance I will get asked about it again. In the past I have tended to do these jobs in clutches and so I feel one can merge into another and it makes me less confident when a few days have passed - and before you ask yes I do write it down and am sure at the time.
Judging by what I've read on MS forums, RE are pretty notorious for lots of queries. I've had a few on the chemist jobs too.

It's even more annoying when they expect us to phone them at our expense if there's a query. At least their phones are usually manned even late at night, so it's not too bad.

But yes, I wouldn't take it personally if you've had a few chemist queries ;)

We had members on here complaining about not being paid by MO for pizza jobs a couple of weeks back. That seems to all have been sorted now but has anyone actually been paid (or even received an email explaining the delay as MO had done) for the February pizza shops NSS allocated for themselves yet?

I think we can all see where the problem lies now...

A friend signed up and got paid £5 for doing a job and £3 maximum spend limit but due to conditions set up by the company if you are asked if you want to upgrade you have to. This means that you end up spending approximately £4.69 instead of the £3 limit. Therefore my friend earns £3 + £5 = £8 - £4.69 = £3.31 profit. Then out of the profit has to come the 20 mile return car journey.

Another job they do gets paid £3.40 + £4 = £7.40 - £3.69 spend = £3.71. Again out of the profit has to come the 20 mile return car journey.

    Is it really worth it?

Jobs like that are not worth it.

I'd never take on a job 20 miles away with no mileage allowance, and I'd be reluctant to take on a job where you have to spend more than the allowance unless it was something I'd buy anyway.

For companies who don't pay mileage, I only do very local jobs or jobs in places where another company is paying my mileage to get there.

 no def not worth it for that money lol

but you have to be sensible, obviously dont go accepting poorly paid assignments if its a long way away and no mileage paid for !

unless you happen to be going there anyway etc !

I will travel further afield for better paid assignments, or a meal one :p but only if I am going there anyway or we use hubbys company car ;)

I mainly do jobs for grassroots - just the ones nearest to me. Although they do struggle to get people in some areas nearby that they've offered help to cover costs.

I used to do some cinema assignments and found that after the first one (which involved watching trailers and recording info about adverts around the cinema foyer) the others ask for less info and therefore paid less and then were just not worthwhile.

Happy with grassroots though - always prompt to pay or answer queries.
