  • Well, I'm definitely hardly ever spotted, if the standard of service I usually get is anything to go by. :D Only time I was sure I'd been spotted was in a burger bar - the staff went all out to give me a fabulous service, including offering me a morning paper!!! - but that is the MS company's fault for making it so prescriptive that you can't help but be obvious......

I most certainly wasn't spotted yesterday in a mobile shop, when the two guys (manager and MOS) got so desperate, they started showing me their spreadsheets to show how badly their branch is doing and how much they are below targets! (The funniest thing was that the spreadsheet included MS targets as well :rotfl: )

It was quite an experience - I usually don't mind mobile shops, but this one was something else.

And I agree with jobbingmusician, the reason we would get spotted is because the questions we have to ask are set by the companies and are often very obvious :rotfl:

I too can't have been spotted when I was evaluating a major supermarket some years ago.

Got to the bakery counter and asked my 'question'........... "are these 'fresh cream' cakes?"............. "not as fresh as you'd like", came the answer :eek:  If only he'd known.;)

Can I just say that I could spot a mystery shopper a mile away!

except the ones that came in with kids/husbands ect!

only time i offered the ad-ons was when I spotted a potential MS.

I can say with pride that every MS report I was named on, I got 100%!

    pity I dont work anymore...

Of course you'd get 100% if you sussed the mystery shopper.

Which shop were you working for?

Some of the Qs you have to ask, make it almost certain you will be spotted as a MSer :( I dont accept those TBH as I would feel uncomfortable

Littleazb - I wouldn't actually worry TOO much about the 24 hour deadline, over the weekend. I have quite often missed the (totally unrealistic) 8 hour deadlines of another company in the past, but find that as long as I key in the results the same evening no-one has worried about it ;)

(I wouldn't RELY on them not sticking to the time limits, but I'd be really surprised if they were too fussy, especially over weekend times. Has anyone had any experience of falling foul of this one?)

I agree: 8 hours is a pi#s take: Gapbuster obviously think that shoppers have nothing better to do than go straight home and key their results - and their jobs have the LOWEST pay of any ms company.

Not long ago, I lost one of my GRG paper questionnaires that I'd filled in before I'd had chance to put it all into the computer. They never chased me up about it but SIX days later I found the paper so i tried keying the results. They all went through no problem, i got paid, nobody ever raised an eyebrow!
  • Another one of the companies (the one which actually employs you ;)) is much more upfront, and for one of their regularly weekly shops, they actually tell you when they need the data, and ask you to warn them if the time you shop (on the final day) mean that your results will be in later than usual. They actually understand that you might need time to go to work and return home that evening - well done that company!!! :D:D:D:D:D

I am getting a new pair of glasses paid for up to the value of £120 :) they said it was £100 over the phone. That's rather generous :) There definitely are perks but I would not say which ms company it is or where i am having my eyes tested, rather removes themystery;) And those of you who dont like GAPbuster, well... don't work for them!

  • I am the soul of discretion so wouldn't dream of posting my employer's name on here. HINT - there's only one company which actually employs you!

If you're still confused, PM me!

PS Oh dear, I seem to have thanked you instead of quoting you. Oh well, I'm sure you deserve an extra thank you for all your work as board guide ;)
