Well I’ve been and gone and done it – still a week to go on my budget but after a shop of £23.17 at Sainsbugs, I now only have 0.23p left. But I’m well stocked up and spent so much because I doubled up on my purchases of coffee x 2, bacon x 3, cheese x 2 and because I try not to drink too much tea & coffee I treated myself to some fruit/herbal teabags, also got dozen eggs, corned beef & digestive bicciesJan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
July - Aug Grocery spends = £219.21
Sept - Grocery spends = £ 32.530 -
urgh - another £37 to add this weekBlah0

Went to Morris*ns to get the bits and pieces that were out of stock on Friday. Stuck to my list apart from some YS bread and bread rolls which are in the freezer. £7.20 spent so still think I can make it with a bit of effort... We'll see!
Have a good week everyone

Is anybody else doing the Morrison's Christmas saving plan? You spend £40 a shop, 4 or 6 times before Christmas, and get £25 back? I am. Mostly because Morrison's is my local supermarket, literally a 10 minute walk...............................................................................

Hello everyone!!
Thread has moved too quick to reply to everyone but just wanted to say to Coxy that I'm sorry to hear your nephew is struggling - it's a really difficult age, isn't it?
Unexpectedly had OH's two sisters and brother for dinner last night (were supposed to be going to a nice restaurant but they are all a bit skint). Ended up spending £26.18 yesterday in Mr M on a free range chicken, expensive branded ice-cream (!), crisps & dip, appletiser and other such goodies that we hadn't planned on buying this week, but it was worth it - made yummy roast chicken with all the trimmings followed by an apple crumble. Plus £26 would have only fed one of us at the fancy restaurant we were going to, so despite being the hosts even me and OH saved money!
OH was saying how before I started doing the GC, he'd have thought the small chicken (1.4kg) I bought would have served two people - I made it feed five plus my lunch today, and then made stock. All thanks to the amazing tips on this board
Went back to Mr M for my main shop today and spent £28.85 (taking off what I bought for chutney making as that's a separate budget) on:
Milk, olive oil, coke x3, savers salsa, goats cheese, creme fraiche, YS diced onion (25p), savers mushrooms, beef & veg oxo cubes, savers lemons, bananas, garlic, jalapenos, savers spaghetti, pecorino cheese, YS cheddar, pears, discos crisps, spring onions, asparagus, salad x2, spinach, bath salts.
Wasn't very much as still have a stuffed fridge from last week - my mission to buy a sensible amount of food each week is clearly not workingmust do better!
Meal plan
Tonight - veg lasagne with salad (two portions left for lunches)
Mon - goats cheese pasta with salad
Tues - veg fajitas
Wed - spag bol for OH, arrabiata for me with garlic bread (both from freezer)
Thurs - got a work do so OH will fend for himself, he might have turkey escalope from freezer
Fri - chicken fricassee with greens & rice (using leftover shredded chicken in freezer)
Sun - Nigerian red kidney bean stew with rice (stew from freezer)Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

My fridge looks really empty to me.:p All I have left is margarine, soya milk and some odds and ends of veggies. I got a loaf of bread out of the freezer and so I won't be buying anymore groceries this week as my online shopping is getting delivered Tuesday.
I am going to avoid buying anything at the local Londis! I go in there for a magazine and end up spending £20.:o0 -
I was running short of Mayo the other day so bought a decent quality asda one. Not in squirty bottle though. Now decanted into the Heinz one! Hahaha! Didn't bother cooking today as my 2 big kids had only just returned from mates houses and were more sleepy than hungry so Ive been snacking from what we have in the fridge. Lunch was one of last nights potatoes with tinned spaghetti(leftovers)and grated cheese(leftovers). Dinner was a chicken sandwich and a jam sandwich. Cleaning out the fridge and hate to admit to a portion of curry and a portion of cooked veg being wasted from last week. I was tempted to spend my £4 off £40 till spit in Coop which ran out today-but I didn't! I was also tempted to buy a few more things and get another voucher in Argos today-but I didn't as I asked myself if I NEEDED the items. They can wait until another day.
I did pick up a lovely pine chest of drawers on Freecycle and I did do some cleaning up! Now to sort out some books and things to put on Freecycle myself. A no spend day for me today.
Rinsed out a 4 pint milk bottle for my dehumidifier water-this will be labelled and put in the garage along with my home made laundry liquid. No excuse not to do the ironing soon now!Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -
Have now spent €156.38 of my November budget, but did manage to get 6 lbs of the €1.45 butter in Lidl....I wouldn't worry about it going off GreenFairy, I am keeping mine in the fridge as there is no room in the freezer.
