The plug in timer might work though if the programme selector is a mechanical dial - not sure if this is the case with the OP's dishwasher though.
I don't understand - I don't know what sort of programme my dishwasher has, it isn't a dial, it's got a couple of buttons. If I press the on switch with the door open, turn off the power, close the door and turn the power back on - the machine starts a washing cycle.
Wouldn't a plug-in timer work in the same manner?0 -

By power off do you mean the power at the mains switch or the on/off on the front of the dishwasher?0 -

Yes, this is the same as ours, the on/off is on the inside top of the door (it's built-in), close the door and it starts.0 -
