Timer delay switch for dishwasher?

Morning all, is there such a thing?

We want to put the dishwasher on to take advantage of a night time tariff, and the machine we inherited doesn't have a delay facility. Is there anything that can do this?

I've gone a few searches but can't find anything specific, just wondered if I'm missing something?

  • Why cant you just use a normal plug in time switch ???
Set to come on at whatever time you want.
I suppose this will depend on what sort of on / off switch your dishwasher has.

It won't work if your D/W has an electronic on/off switch. Make and model always helps.

It is a Diplomat HJA8630; we have thought about this, and can't really see an option that would override the main on/off switch after the programme was selected. It would just be handy if there was some way round it.

As mentioned in post 2, wouldn't a regular plug in timer switch work?

If there is an electronic programme selector a plug in timer won't work, as the dishwasher needs power before a programme can be selected. A plug in timer would just leave the machine on standby but woudn't be able to actually then select/run a wash cycle.

The plug in timer might work though if the programme selector is a mechanical dial - not sure if this is the case with the OP's dishwasher though.

Exactly, no point in having a machine and doing it yourself!!

Looks like we will just have to get up early or go to bed late.
