Didn't think it did allow identical names (DiFFereNT and different etc are not identical)0

I didn't mean identical, I meant the same.
No other forum I am a member of, allows the same username to be used by two different users.100% debt free

This one doesn't. Usernames are case sensitive. Can you post details of the 2 you think are the same ?0

A lot of forum software can be fooled by relatively slight alterations in user name
Chris_M, Chris M, Chris M, and Chris.M are all different as far as software goes. On a site like this, manually checking all the potential clashes just isn't worthwhile for the benefits gained.Adventure before Dementia!0 -

After all, someone could register WestoNDave and create all sorts of mischief and if someone is not on the ball, you might unwittingly suffer for it.
EDIT: On another forum I am a member of, this is in the rules...
If you use a login name which is considered to be too similar to an existing users login name (to the extent that it would cause confusion) then admin reserve the right to change your login name.100% debt free

Well, as long as the admin team don't confuse me with the other chris_m and start handing out bans or other infractions, I'll be happy.

No confusion for admin, you are just a (unique) number
