An inch of black screen sounds like the monitor rather than the computer itself. You should have some buttons on your monitor for adjusting the screen position. You should be able to centre it and then stretch it to fit your monitor.

Do you have any children? My youngest loves messing with the screen position buttons.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

  • thanks so much billscarab, never knew about those buttons.just have to work out the other probs with the size of the text and the amount of space between the lines.it looks like one of those large tpye reading books you get from the library even when i put this website on half screen.but am working on the probs.any advice gratefully received.just want the text size to be the same size when i transfer the message as it is when i typed it cos it goes twice as big.have tried the other suggestions and seems to only affect the text size when im not on the net.when i go on the net the text size is too big and i dont know how to rectify it and im not good with technical stuff.

If it's just when you are on the internet and in Internet Explorer, then at the top left of your screen (just above the picture of Martin ;)) should be File ... Edit... View. Click on the word "View" and then go down to Text Size. Then choose something smaller than the one with the tick next to it ;)
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?
