Sorry probably didn't explain. I have a secondary account - which is no longer needed but the only reason I keep it is to take advantage of switching offers as they crop up.

It has 2 DDs on it, and I pay in the amount per month needed to cover these 2 small DD payments.

It is this account that I am looking to switch, rather than the one with FD which has my salary mandated.

I have nothing to lose so I'll give it a go and apply. I can't see any other cashback offers at the moment so no harm in trying :)
  • in the T&C's it mentions "be a new Halifax bank account customer"

my wife has a joint account with Halifax. I am the primary account holder and have been with them for years. otherwise she doesn't hold an account.

Any idea if this prevents her from switching her account (Barclays) including DD's and salary to qualify?
  • I did the switch myself last year.. you have to switch your salary to it to get the offer

I switched to first direct and then switched to halifax.. easiest £300 ever made lol however had to switch wages each time

However Along with comments left on that article i have a 2nd bank in barclays which i use for all pay ins .. cheques and everything as i prefer the banking expierance there.. all that happens with halifax is that wages goes in.. standing order transfers my living money into my barclays and the direct debits just come out of whats left

Your wife is an existing Halifax bank account customer because...

There's no such thing as a primary and secondary/additional account holder with current accounts. You're both 'jointly and severally' responsible/liable for the account and any debt assembled.

The above is only my understanding though. See if anyone else disagrees, or maybe give Halifax a ring and ask them? If you do get the answer you want to hear be sure to take a name and extension number/department and log the date/time of the call in case of problems down the line.

And yet another £100 from Halifax. Excellent.

If they gave you this before in the previous offer, what would be the chances of them giving it to you again?

Close the account, wait a few weeks, re-apply. It's worked every time so far. ;)

Altho I notice for the £100 offer it says "you will need to be a new Halifax bank account customer" whereas in the last offer I think it said "must not already have a current account with us". Which may, or may not make a difference - depending on their interpretation of the Ts&Cs.

Hi, i know it's slightly off topic but i was wondering if anyone knows. I opened a Halifax Reward account at the beginning of October, but until now didn't have £1000 to put in it, hubby got paid today so i transferred the £1000 over to my reward account, then to the joint reward accoun then back to the usual current account. It says in the terms that you get the £5 for every month you pay in £1000, but does it mean calendar month or from the opening date of the account?

What i mean is, if i do exactly the same as i did today on Thursday will get £5 per account for October and then another £5 per account for November? Oooh and does anyone know wehn it gets paid? is it last day of the calendar month or on the same date each month like the 15th if you originally opened the account on the 15th?

    Cheers in advance:)

    Yes.

    Yes (in December)

By the 10th of the following month (but in practice it's paid at the end of the second working day).

All the above answers can be found on their website or in the T&Cs (which are also on their website).
