Am I a homeowner?

Hi,
I am getting divorced and am therefore renting. However I am still named on the mortgage where my ex still resides (although am not paying towards it).
For the purposes of a CC application, am I a homeowner or a tenant?
If I put tenant, then the credit check will reveal I have a mortgage. If I put homeowner then the credit search will show a mortgage for a different address to my own.
Thanks

I very much doubt the CC will see the address you have a mortgage for. Definitely not through a standard credit report. They won't even know the lender.
And regardless, whose to say you don't have several properties?
So at the moment, you 'own' a home, so I'd say your a home owner.0 -
Whatever you put on this application you'll have to put on all future applications, ie you'll not be able to mix n match since this may flag up 'inconsistencies' when lenders update the fraud prevention agencies with your application data.0

That could be a problem as Im not really sure what I've put down in the past on previous CC applications I made 18 months ago. (The divorce isn't a recent occurance).0

Don't try second guessing them. Just answer the question truthfully, yes you are a homeowner. Then clarify as necessary.0

This is actually quite confusing.
The application is asking me for my residential status. The choices are:
* Owner occupier
* Council tenant
* Private tenant
* With parents
* Other
And the question immediately follows my address (which is the rented property) and also the question how long have I been there.
What do I put?0 -
Other would appear to cover it.0

You're not living with you're parents.
You pay rent. Who to? Council or private?

As per the post above. That's a different question to what you hinted at in your opening post.0 -
Although if you've rented for less than 6 months, it might not be worth even going through with the application, as your address might not be considered "stable" and be automatically rejected on those grounds.
and of course putting down your previous address when you don't live there any more could be considered fraud...0 -

Don't they usually ask for all previous addresses up to 3 years ago?0
