FD debit card or Travelex Cash passport?

Zagfles, I only have a FD credit card and a FD debit card. I have no need normally for anything else. We don't go on holiday three times a year (three times a decade is closer to the truth) and normally in the Euro zone so this will be the first time we've been quite so far from home for so long.
I reckon we'll just take the hit on the fees. It's a once in a lifetime trip."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

Sheesh...what was the point of this thread if you aren't going to take note of the advice? :money:
Get down to Metro Bank and get yourself their debit card.
A saving of around £45 per £1000 is not to be sniffed at...
If not, the Globe card as suggested. TopCashBack > Travelex > Globe card to get 0.5% of your initial load back. Reducing costs for transactions to 0.99% off the wholesale rate.
Compared to a 2.75% forex fee with FD, plus their 2% ATM withdrawal fee.
Metro Bank has neither fee. Get it?
We know about the subject and you don't. So if you are going to ask.....take note of the advice. It's the best that you are going to get.
Now stop trying to drive us mad. 0 0

Do they (Metro) issue the card while I wait? I am in London but it isn't close enough to do it in my lunch hour.

Yes, they say fifteen minutes, but give it an hour. You don't need to do it in your lunch hour, as they are open until eight.0

Thank you, Nifty. I will make it my business to drop in on my way home one evening this week. You'll be glad that you did. Take a bit of cash to deposit straight away.
Their credit card is also the best for travel(the Halifax Clarity stands alongside if you are offered it's best interest rate). So if you are planning to use a CC on holiday, talk to them about that as well.
Again, no fees at all for purchases, other than CC interest if you don't pay your bill in time.
You can also use it for emergency cash withdrawals. Just cover the amount asap and the charge with be negligible.
Give them a call beforehand so that you can have the necessary identification at hand.0
