My dd did NY and Miami this year with Virgin. She got a good price and two really good hotels, the one in Miami was an art deco on South Beach.

They did six nights in NY and seven in miami. They had a fabulous time. Stayed at the Salisbury in NY ( they have stayed here a few times and love it) and the Park Central in miami which is also a good location, they reckon the hotel in Miami was very good as well. They did a trip to the Everglades and went on an airboat which was a pretty good price and had a fantastic holiday.

I think the whole thing cost £1,400 in June which I did not think was a bad price.

Ps they booked it on the phone with Virgin as I think (i may be wrong) most two centre holidays are dealt with over the phone.

    Thanks for that Gregg.

Yes, I've noticed that when I've been googling that most two centre holidays have to be booked online.

No problem. Hope you find something suitable.
  • Hi you can get the Amtrak train to Boston 3 hours have a couple of days there then either drive or take the ferry to Cape Cod.

Cape Cod is the playground for the Eastern Americans and you can be on the beach 2 hours after leaving Boston. It is very laid back and sun sand and sea food feature highly. You can also get a bus or train back to New York

Boston is a very pleasant city with beautiful old buildings new attractions and the Charles River cutting between the city and Cambridge where Harvard is. It is very easy to get around too

    Thank you Markandkate.

It's great to hear what other people have done and how easy/hard it is to get from one place to another. I'm loving all these options so far.

I think we've decided to go August time. I know it'll be hot but if we went to NY at Xmas, then we'd have to take extra layers in the luggage and then be wrapped up while sight seeing, and stifling while inside places.

last year we flew to Washington DC and has a lovely few days - stayed in River Inn Foggy bottom, room had a kitchen to keep costs down. Lots of walking but a very pleasant place in the centre (avoid some of the suburbs as there is a high crime rate).
I would think the cheapest and most interesting centre twinned with NY would be DC - you could also travel between the two by train or even coach. But only if you are city people, one for sights and shopping and the other for museums parks and sights.
Have been to Boston in the past but a long time ago, its OK but not as memorable as Washington. HTH
