ATM's in South America

Morning
I'm looking at doing some travelling next year in Brazil, Columbia, Peru, Argentina and Chile. I will be using my Norwich & Peterborough Debit card for cash withdrawals.
From experience are ATM's located in smaller towns in South America? I expect in the larger cities there will ATMs. I'm just wondering if it will be better to withdraw funds on the move or withdraw larger funds in the larger cities and carry it with me
Many thanks

It varies a lot, depending on what kind of town in what country... for example, the well-heeled Argentine resort of Caril! has a tiny population (a couple of thousand, maybe), but at least 2 ATMs. In cities and large towns you will be fine. Obviously from a security point of view it's not great to carry lots of cash around.
Try using the ATM Locators ( http://www.visa.com/atmlocator / http://www.mastercard.us/cardholder-services/atm-locator.html ) with a few locations you plan to visit. If it only shows one ATM in a particular location, it's probably best not to assume it will always be working.
... and it's Colombia, btw...Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon

Also note that small change is like gold dust, but many ATMs (especially in Brazil) give all denominations of banknotes. Therefore, I would often take out R$499 to get plenty of R$1 and R$10 notes as well as big ones.
