How much does it cost to use a Samsung Galaxy
Options
on PAYG? Are there any additional costs?
I think I want one.
However, I don't do many calls (that's why I'm currently on PAYG); I don't do social networking sites; but I do like playing games and surfing the internet.
I want an Android 'phone with my existing 02 mobile number so I can download and use all those wonderful apps. - you know, 'when's the next bus due'; ' I'm lost, where am I?'; 'I'm in Tesco, how much is it in Sainsbury' - that sort of thing.
I'd like a camera if possible, not fussed about music but fm radio would be nice. Does internet use come from the PAYG amount that you put on the phone, or do you get charged for internet use? I want to be able to send/receive emails and texts.
Would Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 be the best to go for? Phone needs to be sub-£100.
Any/all advice very gratefully received - but please, no techy stuff:)
TIA
p.s. extra question - if I buy a sim-free, can I just transfer my existing sim card into thhe new phone?

The main cost is making sure you have enough of a data plan to cover your usage. O2 have a couple of PAYG plans for this - one is Text and Web and the other is PAYGo Go Go.Does internet use come from the PAYG amount that you put on the phone, or do you get charged for internet use? It can do but you will probably be better with one of the 2 plans that includes some data allowance.Would Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 be the best to go for? Phone needs to be sub-£100.
Probably the best option around at the moment is the Huawei G300 if you can still get it. It's locked to Vodafone but easily unlocked. Read through the thread on here.

Yes you can. My friend was on the old original O2 PAYG tariff. I got the G300 for her, unlocked it and set it up for her. She chose the PAY Go Go tariff which gave her 150 minutes, 1000 texts and 200mb data for £10pm. After 3 months this allowance will double. This suits her usage.0 -
Oh thank you for all the information - very helpful.
Can I connect to the internet on the phone using free wifi?0 -
That sounds even better!
The best price I can find for the Huawei at the moment is £99 at Very, sadly Tesco offer has finished. I might hang on for a little while but it certainly looks good.
Thanks again.
You should be able to use the discount code mentioned in the 1st post to get £30 off if it's your first order there.0 -

Seems I've missed out on that too - appears to be down to £10 now. Never mind, I'll hand on for a bit and see what happens. I'm sure "there'll be another one along in a minute":)
I always have two concerns about mobile phones - one is low volume (but I've found a fix for this on a forum); the other is not being able to see the screen in sunlight. Is there such a thing as a screen protector or similar which gets around this problem?0 -

Still seems to be available.
