TBH, I think Ryanair were in the right with that one, they make it quite clear on their website that every passenger has to have ID, however short tall big or small. How are Ryanair meant to know that those adults were the child's legal guardians.0

But if you're an airline operating services within another country with its own laws on ID, which are accepted by the EU, shouldn't you be training your staff to know those laws and apply common sense*?
* I know that's difficult with Mr O'Leary sometimes
