Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.

Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget
Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Orange - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her:

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x"

Good Luck Everyone

Perfect timing. I'd like to pledge £30.00, to incl all food, petrol, going out and cat-related expenditure. Is that ok?

    Welcome Brallaqueen.

You can pledge whatever will work for you, and to cover whatever you want it to.

The only thing i'd say is be realistic and make sure whatever you set can be achieved but its an amount you dont want to go over.

    Good luck.

  • Hello I need to join in here.. this is one of my most expensive weeks so far. Moneyset aside for 1 event will now be stretched to 3.. My limit is £80. ( a 30th Birthday party, a leaving do for a beloved colleague and an adjoining leaving breakfast at a ridiculously expensive inner London cafe )..

This limit may also have to include £14 of petrol - however I have menus for each event and have planned ahead. Will also be eating a lot at home before each one so I don't turn up there starving and order more than I should...:T

  • Well I've already been out and spent 79p today in Mr Ald!. I had nothing suitable to put the sausages into for the sandwiches that he's demanded now he's feeling a bit better. Which I find unbelievable considering we did a £100+shop yesterday.
That should be it for today. I've made our Christmas pudding which needs to steam for 7 hours so going out anywhere is a bit of a no no, but I'll update my siggy later.
eta: Thanks ETO for running the thread again. :D
