JobCentrePlus website is full of jobs for Data Entry Clerks paying £30,000. (which will be the first time in history a data entry clerk has made anything over £6 an hour) ex. http://www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk/Internet/viewVacancy.do?selectedVacancy=7&ref=CGI/7356
Advert reads "Must be computer literate. Must hold a current valid cert.lamie.org data entry certificate. Experience of data entry via web interface an advantage but not essential as training will be provided."
and work is seemingly nationwide.
You need to sign up and pay to participate in an "online certification curriculum" run by a company called L'Amie
Its nice to see that jobcentreplus sit back and fail to vet postings now, but you have been advised - its more than likely a rip-off alongside the 'career in IT paying £37k' and 'driving instructor £30k plus fully maintained car' adverts.

I got a job from the job centre to work as a admin assistant in an Estate Agents. The manager got people buy/sell property for him and then fire them without pay - saying it was just a trial! I managed to get £100 for a 40 hour weeks work (thought I was lucky to get that!). his furniture and filing cabinets looked they came from a skip and there was 2nd hand computer shop next door which was his IT equipment! He kept boasting about his multi-million deals but yet had stained cheap clothing!
I told the job centre that he is using people and not paying them for their time and work but they just looked blank. The job continued to be posted for months after! I don't think the job centre vet any jobs. But I was suprised they kept it posted after I told them what happened!
I've done data entry - wish I got 30k for it!Light bulb moment April 07: [strike]£3,655 [/strike] Oct 07: [strike]£2,220[/strike] now 0 - 3 years of Uni debt to be added at a later datenow at Uni as a Mature student -update: now has a First Class BA!0 -

Car'nt remember now but it wasn't £100 for the week that's for sure... but as no one else got paid anything I just took it and ran! as I was on (literally) my last £10 which I used to get to work on.
When new people came into the office I sat at my desk trying to shake my head at them to try and warn them - manager was sitting next to me so it wasn't very affective!Light bulb moment April 07: [strike]£3,655 [/strike] Oct 07: [strike]£2,220[/strike] now 0 - 3 years of Uni debt to be added at a later datenow at Uni as a Mature student -update: now has a First Class BA!0 -

Its just a method of getting the gullible and desperate to sign up to participate in an "online certification curriculum" run by a company called L'Amie

Have you advised the Jobcentre of your concerns?
Edit: This vacancy is no longer listed.Gone ... or have I?0 -
If you read my messages you will find that I did tell them but they looked at me like I was nuts and the post continued to be advertised for several months - I don't know how long for as I got a job!Light bulb moment April 07: [strike]£3,655 [/strike] Oct 07: [strike]£2,220[/strike] now 0 - 3 years of Uni debt to be added at a later datenow at Uni as a Mature student -update: now has a First Class BA!0

Wiggy,
If you had read my post, I was referring to the OP!Gone ... or have I?0 -
Complaints would need to be dealt with after calling an 0845 number, which I refuse to call, as I would end up being passed from pillar to post until someone had the ability to deal with the complaint, all at my expense.
Theres enough non-existant jobs on there already, with the number of agencies advertising jobs just so they can increase there CV quota for the month.
I just get hacked off with the idea people will get suckered into thinking a data entry post will get that £30k, if they part with several thousand in the first place.0 -
Oops sorry dmg24

Just landed the very job you posted about it would seem. I had to go and do some online certificate before they would even consider me. It was a hard certificate to do. I had to get 100% on all the tests but I could do them as many times as I wanted. They gave me a 'company car', a crappy old metro that I am amazed still even goes. You've got me worried about if I'm going to get paid or not. I have to work a month in 'loo' so I'm worried if I'm going to end up working for free. The good news is that they have reimbursed my certification expenses and I have a company card for work related petrol purchases. The work on the whole is quite easy and I'm not sure it justifies the gruelling certification I had to go through. I'm frightened of asking if this is a scam because up to now the boss has been quite nice to me and I don't want to start my new job on the wrong foot.0

So what data are you entering?
Why does a data entry clerk need an expensed car?
This looks like a scam to me.0
