Lamie is actually the username (nickname) of a guy that posts on several forums, its not an organization. He seems basically like any other employment agency, apart from the upfront fees for a certificate.

The fact remains, however, that he was advertising data entry posts, nationwide, paying £30k. To gain one of those 'posts' you had to have his certification, and pay upfront for it.

Hes set his websites up as 'UK Individual' and not as a 'UK Limited Company'. On some he has set up as

    "Registrant's address:
The registrant is a non-trading individual who has opted to have their address omitted from the WHOIS service."

When it would seem he is trading.

It would appear from a previous post his contact details are incorrect on WHOIS, as is his phone number.

That is why this is posted in the Warnings board.

Let us know if you get paid what you were expecting at the end of this month. Your take home should be close to £1,840.76.

Hes active on several forums ex. sysinternals.com so you could approach him from there to get an address.
  • Hi guys! Just to bring you all up to date. There's good news and bad news. I've had a chance to speak with some guys that have worked for David Clarke for some time and the good news is that they've never had problems with pay, the bad news is that as suspected the small print means I've got to hit targets to qualify. I had a chat with the lads about it and they said that as long as being under target is not a regular occurence folk have always been paid. They said the worse they have seen is that regular low performers are paid off and sent home.

I can confirm that the above statement is simply not true. The advertisements were placed by my boss, David Clarke, and that I had to go through no employment agency whatsoever. I dealt directly with him. Although my experience with lamie certification procedure was not the best I have nothing bad to say about them other than the low quality of customer service. I get the feeling they are low staffed or something.

So, adverts weren't placed for data entry posts paying £30k, although this would contradict the fact these posts were advertised as data entry posts paying £30k
You needed the certificate to gain the post.
You had to pay upfront for the certificate.

    Seems true to me

The fact that it appears that lamie wasn't advertising these posts and doesn't seem to have anything to do with this advertisement directly is my bad. However, the whole thing really stinks. If you could find out who placed the SecDoK vacancies as well, because these ran along the same line.
  • I agree that the adverts were placed at 30K per annum and that the job desccription required a third party certificate. The only place I disagreed is where you suggest that an employment agency named lamie had any involvement. The only experience I have had with lamie is that they provide certification services that my employer requested. I spoke to David about this today and he laughed at me and said something like 'Ask your mate if he would have suggested that Microsoft post job specs that require an MSCE?'. I'm not sure what an MSCE is but I kind of get the feeling he was suggesting that this is a certificate that Microsoft offer.

Lamie have bad customer service and my boss placed a slightly misleading job spec that mentioned nothing about representative work. That's all that my experience can say bad about both of these organisations.
