Nerf guns are cool, i bought my 2 dd's one each last year and when my 2 nephews visited on Christmas day (aged 23 and 20) they were like a couple of 6 year olds.

uninflated balloons (handy for science projects as well as flatpack fun!)
If he already has Nerf weapons, Nerf ammo

The little things that help them pretend to be lord & master of creation when in fact they are victims of their own hormones.

Also unexpected Christmas delights - chocolate not necessarily in the stocking, but wrapped and tucked into a shoe, a welly, a glove, a coat pocket, schoolbag, PE kitbag?! Causes a lot of small "Oh!"s, and rarely harrumphed at...
