My son will be 10 weeks shy of his 13th birthday at Christmas and I've found it harder and harder each year thinking what to buy him at Christmas. His main present is sorted, but I thought I'd start this thread for stocking presents, and if others who buy for a similar aged boy do the same we can pinch each others ideas.:D

So far

small hand warmer -like many Secondary school aged kids he refuses to take a coat cos he [STRIKE]knows best[/STRIKE] says he doesn't want to drag it round classes all day. These will fit in his pocket.

brain teaser puzzle.

To be bought

tube of mentos- these are son's fav sweet and I can buy diff flavours and in large tubes at duty free shops, so will get some when me and hubby do a weekend trip to France later this year.

Dr pepper- cherry flavour. There's a sweet emporium in my town stocking all diff sweets. This is son's fav drink and in a flavour not normally available.

Will add items as I get them.

in our stockings growing up we always had new pants/socks/Pjs/ toiletries as well as all the novelty items. Good way of adding useful bulk.

In supermarkets you often get nice all-in-one cake kits. I've put a gingerbread man one in OH's stocking before, which he loved as it was a bit different.

He likes science. We've done all the science related kits I can think of before though. He likes playing minecraft. His main present(s) are sorted both from us and other relatives that buy. This is just ideas for his stocking.

My son is two years older-I've resorted to rolled up T shirts before now.

This stuff is expensive, but it might give you some ideas...

Oh, and though it doesn't take up space, some Steam credit (http://store.steampowered.com/) would probably be appreciated. Maybe a Spotify subscription? My DS just doesn't buy music any more...he can listen to anything he wants on Spotify for a flat fee.

I agree-it gets harder and harder to buy them anything that's actually physical...give it a couple of years and I'm going to be looking for a virtual Christmas stocking.

That made me chuckle. Before we settled on what grandparents/great grandparents were getting him when they asked, he kept on suggesting things and I had to ask 'can Nanny buy this is a shop and wrap it up?':rotfl:

If he likes sweets and drinks that you can't normally find. How about a hamper from one of the american sweet sites, they are more expensive then here but are very cool.

My son is 11 this year so not quite a teen but somedays you would think he was

I would put some smellies like showergel in, some sweets, novelty socks, little keyring, a mug, a few pound coins, hair gel, a few little daft funny things that you know would bring a smile.
