Just returned form third trip to Fuerteventura. Had a week of full sunshine in mid 70s temperatures. Stayed in Calleta once and last 2 trips in Correlejo.

Calleta is quite, one main road of restarants and few shops, good prices, sheltered child friendly beach. Correlejo bigger and busier but still not a lager lout or disco place. Mainly couples and families.

Hired a car through http://www.auto-europe.co.uk/ as they offered free 2nd driver and no excess on their cars. Price was the cheapest I could find for a peugeot 207 with Air Con (£90 for the week!) and we got a 307 instead. A Bargain.

Worth seeing the beaches at both Correlejo and Jandia.

If anyone is looking for cheap accomodation I used Thompsons accomodation only facility on thier website. They offer 4 star accomodation in the Oasis Papagayo in Correlejo for £10 per night. The complex is huge, lovely gardens, 5 pools, loads of sunbeds, huge apartments that can sleep six all for £10 per night for the apartment!!!! An absolute bargain and I highly recommend doing this and getting the cheapest flight only you can find. For a family this could work out at less than £2 each!!!!

Correlejo has a lot of building work goin on in places but from the hotels you dont really notice it and it doesnt affect the main town areas.

well ive been and im back..... good points were... great food, reasonable prices, nice and quiet suited me, weather was good when it was good!

not so sure points, WIND!!!! good grief, was it windy, and cold... when sun came out around noon it was scortching ;-)

found some glass in the bottom of the bath and on bathroom floor and had two er... young "ladies" in room next to us who had shall we say different morals to me!!!! especially when they came in at 4am !!! resulting in very difficult questions being asked by my 14yr old!

other than that was nice... does anyone think i should inform tour operator re glass in bath?, luckily (or not) my friend stood on it and not my daughter, but imaging if a small toddler had been put in a bubble bath! or glass had got stuck in soap and then rubbed around a little body?

and as for the "time share" people... well!!! one just wouldnt bagger orf until i said i would call the cops and off he went... persistant pest he was....

anyone need any info on places to eat or stay let me know

I think that "Fuerteventura" means "Strong wind"! It is popular with windsurfers.
For those about to go to Corrallejo, THIS SITE is worth looking at. Wish I was going, I like the fishing there.
