Been to Fuerteventura quite a few times, always Caleta De Fuste and always in March. Weather has always been a bit unpredictable. 1st year we went it was in the 80s everyday, the following years, cloudy in the morning, sunny in the afternoon, chilly in the evening (well sweatshirt weather). It has always been warm enough to swim in the sea though. There is a gentle breeze, which does tend to bring the temperature down a bit, but you really need to be careful as the sun is still very strong.
Caleta is a relatively quiet resort, with most of the 'action' stopping at 12pm. When we were last there - there was just one nightclub - which suited us with two young children. There are plenty of restaurants and bars, our favourite being the Italian called La Bodequita - really nice.
You are never more than 15 minutes walk away from the beach - which is a man made beach. Ideal for young children as it gently slopes into the sea.
If you do hire a car - its worth visiting Correlejo, for the dunes - they are breathtaking, although on a very windy day, it can be torture walking across them - you get sand whipped. The town of Correlejo is a lot bigger and there are plenty more bars, restaurants and shops there. Also to the south is Jandia and the beaches there are fantastic and stretch for miles.
PM me if you want any more info. In total we have been to Caletta 4 times and Correlejo once. Would love to go back, but Mr Frizz has insisted we go elsewhere.Only 5% of those who can give blood, actually do!

Went there last year, the resort is pretty quiet. The beach area is nice with a paved path around the beach and along the seafront.
There is one main street and we found that the restaurants at the bottom of the street (nearest to the sea) where the cheapest and further up the road you got the restaurants were more expensive. We found a really nice Italian at the bottom of the street where there are a few bars (upstairs) and an ice cream parlour, the restaurant is called Casanostra and the food was really good and cheap.
If you have kids there are trampolines and some amusement arcades. There is also a market at the top of the street on saturdays I think.
Hope this helpsWaddle you do eh?0 -

We love 'the rock' so much we have bought a holiday home there. I'm sure you'll love it too. Car hire is cheap and there is not that much traffic so it is a pleasure to drive about. Make sure you get up to Corralejo to the dunes (reputed to be the best beach in Europe). When you drive up from Caleta to Corralejo, the coastal scenery will take your breath away! Also visit El Cotillo which has lovely little lagoons protected by a reef so swimming is great for children.Fuerteventura is not as developed as the other islands so you can get a quiet holiday if that's whatyou want.
For car hire try https://www.recordrentacar.com
Things you may want to buy: Designer spectacle frames are a good buy. Aloe Vera grows there so cheap to buy.
For current weather see http://www.fuerteventura.ws/
Today 27C!!!!! But take something warm as evenings can be chilly at this time of year.

Hi Loopy Lass. Have a guess what we are going there a week this Saturday... We are so excited. We are leaving the kids behind, and going on our own!! weyhey!!! My boyfirend bought the holiday for a Valentines/birthday present (my birthday is on 14th feb too). He got a one week self catering 3 star, AOA, with train fares from York to Manchester and all transfers for £252 each!!! I think that was a great bargain from Going Places.
Heres hoping we all have a good time there....0 -
Hi,
It,s worth getting the ferry ( no singing or bad jokes ) to lanzorate it was not dear and if you got some cheap car hire ( very good roads and police dont pick on the tourists as hire cars normaly stick out with all the stickers on them ),lanzorate is a big island and you get to visit another resort without the expense of 2 holidays.
If i remeber right the port is playa blanca - small and nice with a very good beach.
Hope this helps, and have a good time
PS: If you do go lanzorate goto the "old town" they have the most amazing selection of resturants and the are cheap - There is a steak house that is on the left heading towards the fishing bay just past the cross roads ( and every year i have been it has a massive - Q but the service and steaks are the best i have ever tasted )Tell it as it should be....0 -

Hi,
Let us nice how much of a nice time you had when you get back...;-) and thanks for the thanksTell it as it should be....0 -
We went to Caleta de Fuste in December 2004, and had a fantastic time - great for relaxation - we came home so chilled out.
As everyone has said, car hire is dirt cheap.
We recommend the Greek restaurant on the main high street (forget the name) - cheap, plentiful quality food and great service. Made friends with the waiter there, and consequently going to Crete this year in september to visit his other restaurant!
Have a fabby time, I am so jealous you are going back there (we would conside living there to be honest)."It was not my intention to do this in front of you. For that, I'm sorry. But you can take my word for it, your mother had it comin'."
