Thought of switching tariff with my supplier
E.ON experience.
They told me my annual bill is £594.
Said I should change to fixed monthly direct debit for the best deal, it would be £600 pa but with discounts and rewards would drop to £518 pa.
Started to accept it and next screen said Monthly DD would be £54 ie £648 pa. Pulled out as you might guess.
What's all that about?
Trying to move me from paying in arrears to paying in advance?
Anybody else seen this?

Try this and it will compare all suppliers not just Eon and give you the option of how you pay
http://www.which.co.uk/switch/Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
There's plenty of other comparison site options here, and using the special MSE links, should the OP elect to switch supplier via them, could earn themselves some cashback too

The OP appears not to understand that if he/she is paying more than necessary on the monthly DD, then the surplus will be refundable.0

I suppose it is too much to ask that posts are read properly.
Wywth: Who said happy to stay? Still looking.
JimJames: Tried the suggested EnergyHelpline and found saving £89 (ignoring the minor players) and as I could apparently change plan and stick with E.ON and save £76 it seemed an option. Will try your link, thanks.
Man Overboard: That is my main argument against fixed DD, don't want the hassle of arguing about debit/credit and getting the payment right. Variable DD looks simpler.
Everyone: Just wanted to know if it is common for the headline pa calculation not to match the suggested DD. I haven't taken any other quotes this far yet.0 -

How hard are you looking?

Hi Ivah.
i switched my tarrif with Eon yesterday, i went for 1 year fixed, i pay by DD and yes i am usually in credit. i am happy to pay DD as you get good discounts, it doesn't really matter to me if i pay in advance as the fuel bills are ongoing and i'd rather save money. also the monthly amount you pay does have some flexibility, i chose not to increase mine and see how i go, i am in credit though. dont worry you dont have to claim back any credit, they send it to you yearly without asking for it back. on the other hand if you dont pay enough throughout the year you have to pay what you owe.
p.s. i usually find ringing is best you can thrash out all your queries over the phone. i spoke to someone yesterday who was very helpful. i even changed my boiler cover from BG to EON they gave me a brill deal and mine expires in Nov. i wouldnt have done that if i hadnt have rang them.0 -
Thanks Lady B I'll try that. I have emailed them so I'll wait for that first.0

Good luck Ivah, i've come to the conclusion that saving money takes time, effort and alot of patience.0

My phone contract changes to anytime tomorrow so I might make a few calls even if they aren't 0800 (I'm retired so good rainy day task).0
