mmm well I wish I'd lost weight. I've put about 1 stone on. We eat more pasta, rice and cheep foods now. Less fresh veg and healthy lean meat etc. Cheap food is certainly more fattening, but hey I'd rather be a bit bigger and in no debt than thin and in debt.

I've lost weight from finally waking up and realising my debt situation....

However from my aspect, it's not necessarily a good thing..... I became underweight through the stress of debt situation and just the general AAARRRGGGHHHH that goes with it!

I know thats not really the answer you were looking for, but I honestly think at the end of the day as long as you're happy within, thats what should matter first....

Unfortunately, in the interests of saving money, I now know the times that Sainsburys and Tesco reduce their food and take lots to fill the freezer. Sainsburys are very bad at reducing their cakes down to 10p from around £2.

In an ideal world it should be impossible to eat cakes, biscuits, hotcross buns, rice puddings, custard.........etc. straight from the freezer, but the microwave is very close to hand. :o

But surely, if you are eating poor food, and gaining weight, that's because it's not satisfying you and so you're eating more of it.

Would it not be cheaper to buy more expensive and satisfying food, and so eat less of it and so have to shop less often?

As I said in my first post......I do realise that not all people with debts have eaten the mountains of chocolate, chips and chinese take aways .............. and also that worry over debts can have the opposite effect on people and they lose weight with the worry.

For me the worry over my health and money caused me to eat all the chocolate people were buying me because I was ill. There was a point during my illness when I had lost masses of weight, but once all the surgery and treatment finished the chocolate pressies started coming thick and fast and I dug in. Because I had been ill I couldn't exercise and the weight piled on. Once I was over the illness the credit card bills had grown as we lived off the cards whilst my salary was missing and once the bills became unpayable I cried lots and.....ate more chocolate:eek: But I totally agree with you and it's the happiness within that's important.

I know exactly what you mean. Hopefully though as I've started planning our meals and only shop armed with a list of exactly what I need to buy I won't be tempted by the cheap food, including the reduced cakes mentioned by lulu650;). I may have cut the grocery list/bill drastically but I couldn't forego the fresh fruit and veg section - hopefully I will still manage to pick up some reduced bargains there now and again.

I'm going to weigh myself in the morning and add my weight to my signature     and will aim to cross it out and show a reduction in that along with the debts:T

I think my lightbulb moment covered not just our debts but our whole lifestyle. Fortunately the family are all in agreement and we are going for it with a united front.

Mind you....we are only in week 1:rotfl:

It has actually! Im a stone down - although I have a long way to go yet.

At first I put it down to cutting back and meal planning, which no doubt have helped, but i honestly feel that being on more of an even keel and having lost the constant paniced feeling has led to me leading a less impulsive stressy lifestyle all round = less chocolate and crisps!

I want to lose another stone in the next 8 weeks - keep your fingers crossed for me!
