Hello
I arranged to switch energy supplier (from EDF to Npower) througha price comparison site. About 2 weeks later, Npower have put their prices up. I've recieved nothing from them (or EDF) about my switch. Does anyone know if the rates given on the price comparison site have to be honoured? Or will the add the increases on?
Thanks

Contact Npower, and check if it's in progress.0

Npower can't deal with me now as i don't have a account number - they also can't access their computers today!!
I suppose i'm sceptical to trust what Npower tell me, i'd rather know IF they have to honour the rates i was given at the time of requesting the switch, or if they don't.0 -
Have just found out the EDF have been told by Npower my switch date is 23rd October - nice to be kept in the loop:mad::mad:
Have a horrible forboding feeling i've made a big mistake switching to Npower....0 -
I've called Npower back and logged a complaint. With no communication i'm not satisfied i've had an adequate 'cooling off' period and i'm also annoyed that i have found out through the grape vine i have to take meter reading on the 23rd and send them to Npower. Would have been nice if Npower told me that rather than me actually having to ask EDF what is happening.
Am i able to cancel without penalities?0 -
npower are a dreadful company service wise & your concerns atre probably well founded.
Communication apart however they don't appear to have done anything too wrong in terms of your switch. Any price increase will be applied to your contract not rates at the time you intended to switch (this would apply to any co. / industry unless you'd entered some fixed price agreement).
You could talk to EDF and see whether they are still able to block the switch - perhaps as an erroneous transfer?0 -
When does npowers price rise kick in?
You can inform them of your intent to leave due to the price rise, then find another supplier and begin the switch again.
They have to keep you on your original tariff until you leave so you dodge the price rise.0 -
If you are switching to a fixed rate it shouldnt be effected, if not then it would be. I believe they are migrating to sap today fully. Also they have given you the same cooling off period all suppliers give with is 14 daysDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Thanks all, it's a fixed rate deal, so i hopefully shouldn't be affected by price hike, but i'll double check when the complaints team call me back. Just annoyed that i have to submit final reading on Tuesday and they haven't thought to tell me yet oe even check if that date is suitable for me. If i hadn't phoned EDF to see if they knew anything i'd still be in the dark.
I think i'm stuck with Npower tbh, but i don't think i'll renew with them unless they make a remarkable recovery.0 -
I arranged to switch energy supplier (from EDF to Npower) througha price comparison site.
I prefer to use quidco/topcashback which link through to the actual utility company so the application starts there and then.
With some of the comparison sites they take the details and in some cases pass the details on to the utility company days later.0 -
I'm annoyed with nPower too. I joined them a year ago at the end of July. I was told I would get £100 cash back after 1 year. I still don't have it. Emailed them, because I couldn't get through on the phone. Got a reply saying the cashback would show on my bill next January. Finally got through to talk to someone today to be told the computers are down till Monday so they can't tell me anything. Won't get a callback from them till at least Wednesday so now I don't know if it's a good idea to stick with them or leave and risk losing my cashback.0
