I started comping at the beginning of this month, Just won my first prize yay. However, I'm beginning to really get sick of the dailies! Seeing the same competition every day, knowing that everyone else is doing the same competition daily too, therefore my chance isnt REALLY increased by entering daily. And it just takes up hours of my time, I dont mind comping taking up time, but its just the dailies.

What I wan't to know, is are doing the dailys worth it in prizes? Or shall I just stick to doing the one off competitions which I actualy enjoy entering, and save myself a lot of time.

I think also what adds to it, is I feel I HAVE to complete all the dailies within that day, so i have a time limit. Anyways, let me know your thoughts please!

Hi :) i've had a fair share of prizes from the dailies as well as the other comps :j i once entered the same daily all the way through each day (along with the others) as realy wanted to win that particular prize, which i did :D:j:jso to me the dailies
    are well worth entering :)
maybe just enter the daily ones that you realy want to win :)
not sure if you've seen/saw this post (apologies if you have)
it's very helpful/useful for the dailies, hth x

  • I do the dailies and have won just once so far with them.

Im like you and find that I feel the pressure to do them. More so because I think if everyone else is entering everyday and I miss one day then I wont have as much chance as everybody else so it would be a waste of time entering them for so many days and then not entering them.

Im not really winning ATM anyway so can't really answer the poll at the top as Im finding that Im not recieving any more wins with one than the other.

My main wins have been comps where there has been more than one winner, either a daily/weekly draw or where there is a large amount of prizes. My ipad (a big wanted prize for a lot of compers) was from a game on FB so the more people played, the more likely they were to win one.

I have seen the odd post where someone has won a daily with just one entry in so it can be done. Perhaps only enter those you really really really want to win, but not enter for those that you'd like if you were to get one, but if you didn't have the prize then its not a big deal.

I enter them all and on a busy day where I only have a short amout of time to comp I always make sure I find an hour or so for my dailies, but thats just me as I dont mind doing them.

Even if a competition is daily entry, I usually only enter it once or twice over the course of the comp.

Ignoring the “daily entry, daily prize” comps which are just normal comps that happen to occur each day, and considering the “daily entry, one prize” comps and other multiple entry comps (including the ITV comps) then there are many ways you can look at these comps:-

    a) If the comp takes 30 seconds each day to enter for a month, would you bother entering for that prize if it was one entry that took 15 minutes?

    b) 30 out of your 31 entries are guaranteed losers (but you don’t know which 30!)

    c) an ‘amateur’ may win a one-off comp, but only ‘professional’ compers will get all 31 entries in and so has a better chance of winning. The comp then becomes a straight prize draw between the “professionals”

    d) mathematically, your nth entry increases your chance of winning by n/(n-1) (so your 6th entry increases your chances by 6/5=1.2). The most “profitable” entry is your first, after which the law of diminishing returns applies.

I tend to enter the extra-entry comps once only (following “d”), except where the prize is really good (such as the ITV comps) and it is worthwhile taking the extra time (following “a”). I might do extra entries for the lesser prizes when I have lots of time spare, such as last night when the forum was down :o

I only enter the dailies once (except those where it's a different prizes everyday) per competition at the moment.

I started comping at the end of August and did wonder whether it would be worth entering the dailies once when other people were putting in 30 entries. But I've won twice from the dailies in 2 months so think it's worth throwing in an entry even once.

    Good luck with your comping

I don't really enter many comps now, but in the past I used to save all of the daily comps to bookmarks

I would only enter a comp on a daily basis if there was a different prize every day,

the daily comps where you could enter multiple times for the same comp I only ever entered once

I think that you have a better chance of winning if you enter the daily comps with a new prize everyday

the daily comps with multiple entries for the same prize are swamped with entries so even though you are entering more times, your chances of winning are still going to be pretty slim because with everybody doing lots of entries your odds of winning won't really improve by very much

a bit like the entering the lottery you might do 100 entries but the chances of winning the main prize are still going to be somewhere in the region of nearly 14 million to1

    Best of Luck :)

I tend to only do the magazine dailies, not all of them, though I will do Rafflecopter ones if it's a prize I'd really like. While I do win more on the one entry only comps I tend to get at least 2 nice prizes a month from the magazine dailies.
Since I started properly again mid July have won £100 M&S vouchers, Lipsy VIP dress, £60 Palmers goodies, Mobile phone x 2, DVD's, Table Lamp
I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

I do the daily ones on facebook where it just takes a couple of seconds to enter and also the instants.
It usually takes me about an hour.
However I have won a hamper, a Maom bag, a box of Crunchy Nut Cornflakes and a Pret A Manager gift card so I do think they are worth doing if you can fit them into your routine.

The magazine daily ones and Rafflecopter etc I only enter once a couple of days before the end date, I know that gives me a very small chance of winning, but you have to be in it to win it!

However I do also browse the daily list once a week and if there is something that I really really want then I will bookmark it and make a point of entering that daily.
