O/S Daily Thread Thurs 18th OctoberHi, this is the Daily Thread for 18th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Fish fed, packups made, breakfast eaten, hubby has a cuppa in bed & I'm off to work soon. I had a lovely evening, hubby was home by 5, I cooked him a meal, ham , egg & chips & then we sat on the sofa & browsed some gardening catalogues. It made a nice change from being on my own.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning!
Didn't sleep that badly, usual two hourly. Arm was painful at 3am though. I left the sling off last night so had to take some pain killers. Still doing physio, and getting there:T
Having a cuppa at the mo, cat has gone back to bed.:rotfl:
Wanted to go to the docs today for my flu jab, but if it is still raining later when the clinic is on I won't go. No car and no rain cover for my scooter, no thanks!:rotfl:
Sausage casserole for dinner. OH is coming later.
Sorted out DD yesterday. Turns out the only real debt she has if with me. The problem was that as SIL has had no wages since July she has been trying to pay all the bills herself. Used Martin's Budget planner, worked out that she pays out £1500 a month, and she was only getting £900 in:eek: So she used up all her savings trying to manage. Have now lent her money to tide her over till SIL gets his first wage.:) They are both so much happier now.:T
(((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))
Have a good day.I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Morning all,
Too dark to see what the weather is doing, but dont think its raining. Off to work for me today, need to drop dd at the station for college and the dog off at my mums first.
DD and I need to make a lunch up, I think she has some veggie sausage rolls I shall have a sandwich.
Dinner tonight is an omlette and salad, might do some wedges too. Will need to do another wash tonight and get it on the airer, hope the weather's nice for the weekend.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all, hope everyone is well.
Been up since before 4I have a stinking cold. Had that horrible experience of struggling not to cough and sniffle because I was very aware that OH was trying to sleep and we had to get up at 5. He is away this weekend which in a way is good because having the bed to yourself when you have a terrible cold can be no bad thing. Not having to worry about keeping anyone awake!
Was wet and miserable when I dropped him off at the station at 5.30am. Just sitting in bed finishing my cup of tea then need to get up quickly, there are road works on my way to work which has slowed me down all week.
Today will be completely OS free - I even have a WeightWatchers ready meal for my dinner tonight! Oops!
Hope everyone has a good day, happy Friday!0 -

Morning everyone,
Hester half term is on the horizon!
Hugs to Molly, Hilstep and LW
Get well soon Daisyegg and FB.
Big hugs for Maud.
Judi quite a few of my pupils have those stretched earlobes, can't say it is my favourite look.
The observation went really well yesterday and both my observers agreed that the lesson was outstanding so I am very relieved.
However some of the other teachers did not have such a good experience and were really upset yesterday, it can't be the right way to go about things.
HM pizzas for tea tonight.
Quiet weekend on the way I hope.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Dull overcast and miserable here this morning. DH up and off to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was omelette, chips, baked mushroom and coleslaw for the menfolk, I had omelette, baked mushroom and salad - clean plates all round, but was a bit of faff trying to make four omelettes, but would certainly do it again - as it's a relatively easy meal even on work nights. Tonight's dinner I haven't decided on yet so will organise when I go shopping this morning. Was reasonably productive yesterday, took car to garage, they will be phoning today to tell me when it'll be ready as I authorised the work as it looks like a small spend and there isn't much else that it could be other than the switch. Went straight to hairdressers then came home and got stuck in, got housework done, and ironed everything that was dry - will continue with the washing, drying and ironing today - want to get it done so tomorrow morning whilst DH is at work I can do some baking/cooking at my leisure, or if I manage to get ahead today will do it later. Will be going into town shortly as need to go to the bank, then food shopping, then home to crack on.
Have a great Friday everyone x
Have a good day, stay safe and well x

Morning all - cold and dark here. Working this afternoon.
Troubles with the council; they took my green recycling bin away after I complained it hadn't been emptied. I requested another green one so they sent a brown one for garden waste (already have one of those). The council guy told me to put everything in black bags in the meantime and put them next to the normal black bin, which I've done. When I phoned yesterday to get the 2nd brown bin taken away, I was told they won't take the black bags. I've just been out to flirt with 3 binmen in my dressing-gown and slippers, and they've taken the lot, so phew for that.
Dinner last night was a bacon sarnie because I was in pain. Not sure about tonight, but Mum's arriving for the weekend.

Morning all, fire lit, children dressed, OH up, dishwasher on! Today I have to tidy round and put all the bits away, get black dye for ds1s school jumpers (I am not buying more, when he has perfectly serviceable green ones, so will just dye black!) and might get to post office.
Tea tonight will be either shepherds pie or spag Bol or chilli. I have a Costco pack of mince which needs cooking, so will make all of the above and freeze what's not needed. Washing also needs tackling and as its Friday I am sure something else will turn up!
Had news yesterday that ds1 IS autistic! Yes, I know that it won't change his behaviour, but somehow having a professional confirm what you think is comforting, even if it is bad news!! He'll never grow out of it, which means an uphill struggle for the rest of his life - not something anyone would want for their kids. X
Tiglath - love the idea of you flirting with the bin men in your jammies!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0
