Also please do not take the number of bids above you when you bid on a property as a indicator of how long you will be waiting for.

You need to remember that there are a lot of people that will simply not bid at all and people who only bid on really selected properites and also people that will join the list after you with a higher banding

yeah those that bid on the same property as me, the total is updated, until the bidding closes, so I know exactly the number of bidders at any given time.

In Leeds the bidding system allowed people to bid from Wednesday until Tuesday but I know of somebody who was offered a property by letter on Saturday (so had been sent Friday) which means people were bidding on a property which had been allocated!
I'm sure not all work like that but be aware being quick to bid may help x

yeah I asked and they come online at 1201am Wednesday and I have noticed some seem to go up on a first come first served bases? I asked about this to and again they seemed unsure as two different council workers told me different things, One said they don't do that, and they must be shared ownership type deals and not rentals and the other one told me yes they do that sometimes, I asked if these properties were hard to let rents etc but she said no, it could be any number of reasons? so another thing to ask on Monday.

just to keep the thread updated, handed in my proof on connection to the area and it had brought my bid placing down from the 50s to 12  still might not stand a chance but 12 is better than 50!

Maybe ones that go within a couple of days go to a family that is actually homeless with so many points they can be beaten?

not sure what you're saying? if it's that I may never get to 1 or 2 on the list as homeless people will always be in front of me, then yes I too have thought that might be the case.

I tried again today, asking how the bid process works, not much clearer on it, but I think some properties are not restricted to Homeless people but some are, so I couldn't bid on those anyway, the properties I can bid on, I believe have no such restirictions, me being in the bottom band F and 12 on the list for one of my bids, leads me to think thats the case.

Think this may be a typo - and should read cannot be beaten?

In some councils they allow 'auto-bidding' for people who cannot bid themselves for whatever reason - this would automatically bid for certain properties in certain areas. If the council apply these early in the week it may appear that its first come first served.
