car bumped - will I get a full body respray?

My car got reversed into - insurance all sorted and car being picked up next week for repair.
There's a big dent and the paintwork is damaged. My car is black and a few years old, so the colour is a bit faded.
I'd like to know when repaired will the whole car be resprayed or just the damaged panel? I wouldn't be happy if the car was different shades.
Thanks for any advice.

    Just the damaged panel.

Gets some T-cut or paint restorer and work up a sweat.

No you wont get a full respray.

Chances are they'll buff up the rest of the paintwork though to match it to the fresh paint.

I very much doubt they'd return it with a different coloured panel. If you car is repaired on an insurance job, they generally do all that they need to do (as I guess there is no need to cut corners).

I remember hitting my car on the right front many, many moons ago and when I picked the car up, all the scratches on the bonnet had vanished and the back bumper had been replaced.

They'll probably colour match the new panel to the old ones on the car and/or polish and mop the old paintwork. Can't see you getting a full respray out of it I'm afraid

Never a hope in hell of a full respray. Any decent bodyshop will match it perfectly.
  • if they wanted to paint all of it, a small car would cost on the insurance to paint about £2000. then ad onn your damage replacements.

so no i dount very much they will have had authorised a full respray, you maybe lucky to get a air freshenr never mind a mop and polish.

Are you using repairers arranged by the insurers? If so, in my experience they tend to save money by using the cheapest repairers they can find (who tend to be very shoddy).

I had an oldish black Vauxhall some years back. After a shunt, the repairers arranged by the insurers just resprayed about a quarter of the bonnet - you could clearly see where the respray finished.

The next time it got scraped, I took it to a Vauxhall approved body shop. I could tell that the insurance co were unhappy about the amount of the quote for an oldish car and tried to persuade me to use their own people, but the Vauxhall approved place did a perfect job.
  • They will blend the panels in so that it matches.

Just make sure that you see/inspect the car before you sign for it to make sure you are happy with the job.
