I wonder how many people besides me have received a passbook and not even bothered to check the name in it.

And since there's only a name, it's hardly sufficient to identify the owner.

  • I once checked my NW account and found a sum of money had been withdrawn from their Rugby Branch (many miles from me) and then repaid into it.

They didn't seem to think it that big a deal, and certainly offered no compensation.

A little later though they wanted to charge me over something or other on my account, but I reminded them of the Ruby branch fiasco and they decided against it!

Received my passbook earlier today that Nationwide sent to another of their customers in error. The letter with the passbook stated that Nationwide Head Office sent my passbook to one of their branches in error.

LIES LIES LIES!! Nationwide sent my Loyalty saver passbook to a Church Minister! They are now trying to cover up a Data Protection breach!

In the last couple of hours, Nationwide has taken all my money out of my savings account (without telling me) and put it into a 'holding' account where I don't have access to it. It's now the weekend and they say they can do nothing until Monday. Wonderful!!!

I believe the guidelines state £100 minimum compensation for a DPA breach.

    Lloyds offered me £40
Nationwide offered me £250 + £10 for every day I didn't have access to the passbook they sent to the wrong address. They got this over Christmas/New Year, so it ended up costing them over £400!

Nationwide have redeemed themselves to some extent. At least they have now opened up a new account and I now have access to funds.
