You'll be glad that you're not alone! Try this recent thread:

I've bought some white vinegar so I'll give that a go and I'll get some soda crystals tomorrow as they seem like a good idea as well and I might even go with the bicarb & water thing - something is bound to work! Many thanks.:hello:0

Could it be that you are overfilling the machine- try putting in less and see if there is an improvement?
Could you hang the shirts on plastic hangers as soon as they come out of the machine?0 -
I recently bought a couple of expensive gym outfits, the kind that are supposed to keep you cool etc. Was quite surprised when I looked and they were 100% polyester. Wash instructions are for cool (30 deg) delicates wash and using fabric conditioner is a no-no. Given that they are polyester and are worn to the gym they get a bit sweaty and I don't think this wash is quite taking out the smells. Anyone got any suggestions as to what else I can do before it gets any worse? I've checked the indexed collections but couldn't find any tips. And they are way way too expensive to replace (I'm planning to be buried in them
). Any help very gratefully received.

add an egg cup full of white vinegar in the softener drawer don't worry you won't be able to smell the vinegar once washing is done.
let me know if it works i use this method on my towels not used fabric conditioner for months now0 -
all of mine & hubby's gym kit (we both wear the wickable type tops that you're talking about) gets washed along with the normal washing at 50 degrees. It's fine & will often go through the machine twice a week. I never tumble dry it and fabric softener is a definite no no; you get a horrid plastic-y coating on your clothes and when you next wear it in the gym you give off a strong scent of lenor as you start to get warm :rotfl:
A good couple of hours flapping out on the line always leaves it smelling nice & clean.0 -
Thank you all. TS-aly some people don't seem to break a sweat at all, don't know how they manage it! In fact someone in my gym does it in full makeup and doesn't seem to heat up at all. Poppie, I use vinegar for towels but didn't somehow think to use them for this, will give it a go. And Lucie, that is a relief, I'll try it on my normal 40 deg wash and see if this helps a bit. The line idea is more of a problem, living in Ireland it's very touch and go as to whether they'll be wetter coming in than going out
also we don't really get any breeze at all (too enclosed) but will give it a go. Many thanks all.

I hope someone can help! My husbands work t-shirts smell sweaty:o After i have washed them.
It isn't because of bad personal hygiene because he bathes every day and puts a clean t-shirt on for work every morning, and uses deodorantbut after washing they still seem to smell.
I threw all his old ones out and bought a whole new set a few weeks ago (I know not very MSE!) but the new ones have now started to smell.
Please help!Nothing to declare

Try rubbing washing up lilquid into the under arm area before washing (I assume the smell is coming from there?)Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0
