Beko-Let Down Again!

Long story short...

Purchased a Blomberg (Beko) washing machine last spring, has a 3 year parts and labour warranty. In November last year, it started soiling the clothes that were in it - greasy deposits which ruined a whole load of whites.

Beko sent an engineer from a firm called Aztech (had to wait a week for them to come) who said it was faulty and advised that it couldn't be repaired. Beko then agreed to replace it with another machine but it turned out to be the same model. All in all, I was without a machine for about 4 weeks.

3 weeks ago,the new machine did the self same thing. Back onto Beko, wait a week for an engineer, he came on Friday, engineer says it's the same problem and recommended we have a new machine as it's not repairable again but this time Beko are asking for photographic evidence of items damaged in the wash. Told to email Aztech them which I did on Monday of this week, heard nothing.

This morning, rang Beko, they haven't received the mail with the pictures, can I send them again, this time to a different person at Aztech. Beko refusing to say when I might get a replacement and all this time, I am without a machine with a family of 4, including two very messy little ones and a bin bag full of clothes we can't wear.

What are my rights? I am going to complain, but can I claim for the damaged clothes and petrol to and from my mother's to use her machine?

Any ideas, views etc gratefully received.

I'm guessing you didn't buy the machine from Beko? If so, you have no consumer rights with them only with the retailer.

You would need to check the terms of the Beko warranty to see if you have a valid complaint. I imagine that should you wish to take it further you would have to prove they have not made their best efforts to resolve in a reasonable time. Whether four weeks is reasonable is something you would have to prove. ( Note, that your circumstances making being without a machine difficult is not enough on its own)

As for being reimbursed, then provided you have taken steps to minimise your expense then you could certainly try to claim. As longas you have proved the above.

In my experience, four weeks is not an unusual length of time for a resolution. Frustrating, yes, but not out of the ordinary.
  • As above, your rights are with whoever sold you the machine.
