Tablets-which is better (non-techy minded, old woman post)

My lovely daughter has requested a tablet for Christmas, I am completely non tech minded so need some help. She'd love an iPad but fully understands that ain't happening.
Requirements: Apps, she uses Google Play apps on my Archos tablet and likes them.
Wants it for Facebook.
Possibly wants to use it instead of her laptop for internet browsing.
She has her laptop for her uni work so the tablet is purely for portability and fun.
I'm currently browsing and have seen an Archos Arnova 9 but am unsure if she can use Play apps with it? Or there is the Blackberry Playbook.
Which is better? My top budget is £150, is there something else we should be looking at? Many thanks.

Next Wednesday the iPad Mini will be launched.... though highly unlikely to be £150... guess it depends on if there is any flexibility0

No flexibility in budget sadly. If the Google Nexus is available for £160 I might be able to stretch to that but certainly no more.0

OK. I do suggest you wait for another 2 - 3 weeks to see if they do further price reduction.
Also, I just read this0 -
Thank you, I will wait. I'm in no rush to buy but wanted to start knowing what it is I want to buy if that makes sense, will hold on to see what Christmas does to the prices, she might even be persuaded to wait until the January sales if it means she gets more for the money.0

annoying that!
I was only trying to help the op by actually performing the search myself and posting a link to the results rather than posting "use the search function, there are numerous other similar threads discussing all sorts of tablets in different price ranges...."This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
