Warm Home Discount Scheme

Although my new supplier does the WHD, the customer must have been with them on 12th July and still be with them in March the following year.
I took the advice of this website to switch at the end of my fixed tariff (September) and now it seems I cannot get the WHD!
Probably didn't save a thing!
Do you think there is any way around this?
Poor advice it seems which is unusual here!0 -
I think the issue only arises when you are eligible under the 'broader' scheme. However I understand the wider issue.
When you are changing you have to factor in more than the cost of fuel. For instance if you are on duel fuel British Gas will charge you a fee for changing BOTH fuels. The fee is somewhere around £30-£40 for each type of fuel so you may have to factor in about £80 when working out which is cheaper. If you then lose the £130 electricity refund you MAY find that the fee to change and the loss of the £130 will make the change less prudent!
I am not sure if this will work but have you actually applied to your NEW supplier? The details can be found here:

I have received warm home discount rebate for 2 years now and my electricity account has gone up to £350.00 in credit because of theses payments, but I have still been paying my direct debits as per usual every month.
I asked for the extra to be credited to my bank account but it cannot happen because they say it came from the rebate.
My argument is that it is sitting in EDFs bank account while they have still taken my direct debits from me, what good is it doing me as "I" paid for the electricity used, it did not come from the rebate, so EDF have been paid twice.
I still pay my electricity with £ 350.00 crediting my electricity provider, I am so angry.0 -

Ask for them to reduce your direct debit, rather than giving you the money back. Remember that £350 will not last long if we have another winter like the last one.0 -
I would work out how many months your credit will last and stop making payments fr that time. Just check in case you are on any special tariff that you have to pay by DD for. Alternatively get the DD amount changed. This should have happened at an assessment period anyway.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0
