  • I am in a DMP with numerous companies. There's nothing wrong with trying to get your charges back. I applied to HSBC for over £1000 of charges, they settled for £900 just before the OFT test case was announced. They said that the £900 will be taken off the debt i have with them.
my advice, Go for it and don't let them bully you!
  • Hi we have a debt with a Providian(monument)card. £1000+
We are on a DMP which was set up originally with the CAB and has been running for a few years now. They have now left us to get on with it as there funding was cut, and so far its still going ok.
The agreement with Providian was that they would stop the interest UNTIL the payment we are paying was more than the min payment required, which the payment now is.

Now I would like to reclaim any charges ,but have no idea how much there could be, Mrs Hampsterpoo says its only going to be about £200 at most.

BUT Mrs Hampsterpoo say that as they havent yet started adding the interest ,(like they said they would),
If we claim we could very well awaken the monster and end up getting interest added for the sake of £200 and we would be better of leaving well alone.

Do we leave alone or do I prod the sleeper....

....Mrs Hampsterpoo is normally right but was very suprised when her about "there will be no more than £400 in charges" from the bank turned out to be over £1000.

    Any thoughts

hi there me and my partner are both on debt management plans for the last 6 months. Prior to this have had some very large charges hence why we are on a dmp. Is it still possible to claim bank charges from previous years at all?

    Any help please

    any help anyone?
  • I would be interested in this as i am in a similar position. i am surprised nobody has answered you yet. dont give up as someone will be along shortly with a good answer.
  • You need to read the previous posts as you should let your DMP know and be aware than any monies reclaimed will probably go towards any debt held by the bank but this of course will reduce what you owe.
  • This may be a ridiculous question, so please be gentle with me.
I started a dmp plan in April with around 8 credit card companies.
If I try to reclaim the charges, are they likely to cancel my plan?
Has anyone any experience of this?
I thought of maybe trying to reduce my balance by the amount of the charges if they won't send actually refund the charges.
3 of them are now with debt collecting agencies - Egg - capquest & Marbles & GM card with Restons solicitors.
    Any advice gratefully received. Thanks

I claimed for both my husband and mum, both who are on DMP with the consumer credit counselling service (CCCS) and neither have had any problems with the DMP, and I got both claims paid in full.
Reclaimed thanks to this site: £2596.71

  • Hi there

    Just a couple of questions..

    1. I am half way through a £35k IVA - am I able to claim charges, or if I did, would this just go straight back into the IVA anyway?

    2. OH is doing his own DMP - can he reclaim? Don't want to annoy these companies who are currently working with us to get the debt down.

    Thanks!
