If you do not mind using other debit cards for cash withdrawals. Aqua card is good for purchases overseas and can also get 3% cashback.. but must settle everything by paying full.. otherwise rates are very high.... [They closed my application without any decision though ;-(]
I am Novice wrt Knowledge on UK Banking industry. I post based on my own experiences and knowledge of using credit cards overseas.
  • Enjoy your trip, but I hope not to see you on various other boards when it comes to repayment time ;)

Have you considered taking a pre-paid card? I have used the Travelex Cash Passport one a few times (each with different currencies) and it great. Once loaded you just use it like a normal debit or credit card. Easy to reload over the phone or online too

    Enjoy your travels :)
  • I have just used my Halifax Mastercard to pay for Qantas seat reservation.

Paid $100 which shows as £64.77 on my statement, thier is also a NON-STERLING TRANSACT FEE of £1.91.

Is it this non-sterling transaction fee, using the Post office Card I wouldn't pay?

Also am I correct in my assumption, If I withdraw from a Cash Machine (ATM) in Australia I pay 1 set fee only,
For example withdraw $100, which is £65.12 today's conversion plus '£3 cash fee'
  • Any help above would be good, looks like the Post Office card is best for me as I'm under 50 so can't appy for a Saga.:)
