O/S Daily thread Thurs 18th Oct 2012

O/S Daily Thread Thurs 18th October Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 18th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all - hope you're all well. Dark and rainy here. Yesterday was a mammoth day - my sister and I decluttered the diningroom for the first time in 10 years. Put 3 sets of dumbbells + stand and a hideous kitten picture out on the pavement, and people kindly nabbed them. A computer chair still out the front, and 3 cushions snaffled back by sis. 10 black bags full of toot on top of a full bin; no doubt the council will refuse to take them on Friday, although they told me yesterday to leave them out because of the ongoing saga of the disappearing recycling bin. Anyway, the diningroom looks like a proper room again, and I can walk through it without tripping over anything. Even DH admits it looks better and he hates it when my sister goes through like a whirlwind and moves everything. We're getting there room by room; it's beginning to feel like a home again.

I overdid it a bit moving furniture and my neck's hurty now, but I'll live. Working this morning, then a touch of shoppng at lunchtime on the way home. DH is sick today so I'd better do the dutiful wife bit. Dinner last night was pork chops with cauli cheese; tonight probably lasagna to use up an elderly broccoli and some freezer mince.

The person I thought I had for 6 weeks to work with me on a project is leaving unexpectedly on Friday, so that doesn't fill me with joy as I'm working part-time and trying to fit in all my fulltime work plus half of a colleague's job. I've decided it's not my problem - I'll let the big-uns sort it out.

My sister has dropped the price on her bungalow and Mum's house and suddenly has people showing interest in both within a day. It would be great if they both sell - Mum can finally get her retirement flat and my sister can reduce her mortgage on her main house. The downside is we have well over 1000 books at Mum's to ditch.

Just fixed our gas and electric charges for 12 months, as Eon are likely to increase in the New Year according to Martin.

Have a good day everyone :)

Up early because my back is agony (please look at my seperate post on twin beds!), DH is taking a day off to have some sleep but fingers crossed I can rope him into some chores :D I will do crochet and quiet dusting until then.
Going to make some bread today and fish pie for dinner.
Went to the cinema last night to see Hotel Transalvania - don't bother, it was rubbish and not worth the money even with the Orange 2 for 1 offer.

    Morning!!

hehe BB - He's looovely :-) I'm a very happy girl right now!!

Thursday already! I had Monday and Tuesday off so really can't get my head around how quick this week is going.

Once I get home from work I have to help my parents with the house move, then i need to come home and do a spot of cleaning in my own!
Dinner will be something I batch cooked and froze earlier in the month, possibly lasagne. I could do with washing some bedding and getting it dried, but I'm trying not to put the heating on just yet, and I'm not sure how well it will dry without it.

Hope everyone has a lovely day today xx

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Dull miserable and wet here this morning. DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was chicken casserole, with pots and veg, really enjoyed as can't remember the last time we had chicken casserole, clean plates all round. Tonight hasn't been planned but looking at the contents of my fridge, think it will be omelettes, hot new potatoes and salad etc - only problem is I only have 2 omelette pans so will have to make the omelettes 2 at a time - that should be fun then!

I'm taking DS2 to school then going straight to the outlaws so FIL can follow me to the garage to drop big car off, have a problem with the rear brake lights sticking on when parking - looks like it could be something to do with a switch, not a major problem but have had a flat battery twice because lights stuck on - so want to get it sorted before winter really sets in. When I booked car in forgot I had a hairdressers appointment so will have to be on my toes to get from one to the other, then it will be straight home to get stuck in to the jobs, doesn't look like a line drying day again today, so washing will have to be put in TD or on airer. Will also finish writing the shopping list for tomorrow and make sure I add a few more of the ingredients for the xmas cake and xmas puddings - I plan to make these in half term week - made xmas puds for the first time last year and they are so lovely.

Friend came over with her son for coffee and chat - things haven't developed in the way we thought and she seems a bit in limbo now - just trying to be there whatever happens.

Have a good day, stay safe and well x

    Morning all,

Dry here atm but due some rain later on. Off to work for me and dd off to college,I picked her up last night to take her to her induction, and she had decided not to go, she really was exhausted, so she phoned the lady and explained the situation, she was very understanding, dd feels better now that thats off her mind, she is also going to cut down her volunteering, she needs at least one day off a week.

Dinner tonight, ham egg and chips, will also put a wash on, and put it on the airer. Tesco delivering too.

Molly sorry to hear you are feeling so down xxx

Get well vibes for maud xx

    Morning all:j:j

Dry here and its quite warm too.

Well The twins are not at school today. They have both come down with a sickness bug. There is one going about the school at the moment.

I had my appointment at the hospital on Tuesday.

They have decided that it will be better for me to have treatment sooner than later. Not bad really as they told me about the new tumour in 2009 And now they are saying that they will remove it sooner than later !Just what later means to them I have no idea:eek:

Anyway. Its not as simple as Just cutting it out. There are a few problems because of were it it is. This time it also looks like they will have to remove part of the skull and replace it with a metal plate. In the past they have always been able to put the skull back.
So much for all the talk of having radio to treat this one.
Anyway I dont have any set date for any of this. It all depends On lots of things. One being if I wont to go though with it.
They have saidf that they can leave me longer If I don't yet wont anything done as its growing very very slowly. But it is now stating to press on the 5th nerve I think he siad the 5th anyway.

    On to good news.

It was the twins first parents night yesterday. A a great report for both of them, Both myself and the wife and very proud of them :T:T So well done to both of them:T:T

Well everyone I hope that you are all well.

Lou that baby of yours looks a lovely lad. I bet both you and Dad are very proud

    Have a great day all:j:j
:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j

Well the rain last night was horrific! It seems brighter today but still looks like rain so the washing will be going on the airers. Made a pot of tomato soup this morning, DD has finished the leek and potato and likes to take hm soup to work for her lunch.

Have to make up a spare bed for friends children staying tonight, they asked me to babysit but we decided they could have a sleepover, not sure I am as excited as them!

    Halight - hugs to you.
Bramble - good to see you, hope all goes well with the new chap!
Hope the poorly doggies are doing better.

    Take care. XX
