Saving text-messages onto computer?

Does anyone know whether that can be done, please: copy-over onto computer from a mobile-phone your texts, both sent and received, so that you may view them?

I have an iPhone and iMac and understand that when I synchronize the former with the latter my texts are copied into iTunes. However, the backed-up texts are not viewable.

If someone knows a simpler way I'll consider changing platforms, so to speak (although I'd prefer to continue to use a Mac computer).

Thank you,

AF.

  • Hello, 'T_T',

    Are you able to view your text-conversations in 'speech-bubble'-form? I take it you use a PC? Would you know whether your Android phone would work similarly with a Mac; or Linux, perhaps?

    Thanks for posting,

    I use an app called AirDroid (it's free). What it does it let me access the main features of my phone using my browser. When you install the app on your phone you open it up, click start and it gives you an IP address to type into your browser (this could be any browser so it should work on a Mac). Your phone gives you an authentication code which you punch in and hey presto you have access to your phone, including messages. You can send and receive messages through the browser and also archive them onto your PC.
  • Talking from a Windows user, Mac may be different;

    When you back up your messages it doesn't save them in the chat bubble format. Mine basically saved into a Notepad, with a time and date stamp.

    It did however show them as the person saved so for example:

    Lucy (22/10/12 13.39:28) Said: Hi :)
    Dan (22/10/12 13.44:12) Said: Heya! How's it going!?

    hope this helps! When backing up your messages you can view the directory your saving them too, then you can go into them and read em! :)
